THERE ARE 42 CONSPIRACIES
One is the Myth of 42. Which is that all TRUE researcher Nos. can be manipulated to equal 42. Debate rages (well raged... well OK there were a couple of ideas) as to what this means. Some people thought that if any Researchers were found that could not be manipulated then they would be imposters and should be taken out and shot, others hold to the belief that those who are unmanipulatable are true saviours sent by the Mice to lead us to the QUESTION
...The significance of the Answer (42) was first revealed in that ground breaking Tome "Hitch Hikers Guide To The Galaxy" - bow down and worship the prophet DNA
Where the supremacy of Mice was also revealed 
.To further boost the Veracity of the Answer two facts recently came to my attention:
1. Gimli, the dwarf, slew 42 Orcs at the battle of Hornburg in the Lord Of The Rings
2. and last quarter (Summer 2001?) Microsoft's Profits dropped by 42%
For all 42ists out there I have created the first SuDoK42 for you to try out A5250601... (If you've never tried SuDoKu before check out my article about it: A5178828 first)
An idea has been fermenting in my head for the last few weeks, and finally the fermentation process overheated and the "42 Spotter's Club" exploded into being... This kind of speaks for itself, just a place to put sightings of the Answer..
This started off as an exercise in Numerical Manipulation to keep the Brain ticking over while we were stuck in H0G0 (Rupert, or whatever). But while we were using Yahoo!Groups it seemed to catch on.
Basically I took all the User Numbers I could find (fortuitously (?) someone was running a "Compo" to guess when H2G2 would be back and required peeps to quote their User Numbers) and manipulate them to Make 42 keeping the Numbers in Order. So far one has escaped successful manipulation (U109000) (without cheating, well until recently - see below!) - the exceptions to this rule seem to be the majority of The PTB.
Acceptable functions include:
x - Multiply
/ - Divide
+ - Plus
- - Minus
sqrt - Square Root (prefence not to use this)
^ - to the power of Note: a^0 = 1; 0^a = 0; 0^0 is undefined
! - Factorial (also known as Shreik) n! = 1*2*3*....*n Note: 0! is defined as 1
Also remember that the guide defines 6x9 as 42 (thanks to Guru Bear for that one)
Other standard functions on a Calculator are also allowed - including ArcTan, Sin, Cos, etc....
