Odd shoes on the road.

I have been losing sleep for half a lifetime about the problem of odd shoes on the road.

I am sure that we have all seen them and they can be anything from a child's slipper to a fully fledged workman's boot. (At least that is more easily explained)

A friend of mine believes that they simply fall off as you are driving along with your foot out of the window and you don't notice. But then she drinks. For some reason, my son thinks that there is an organised plan on behalf of at least one person to baffle me (and only me?) by going out and buying them and dumping them there.

I've started collecting them and I now have a collection of several hundred in my shed. Someday soon I am going to make up a pair. Last month I got two brown brogues, same size, same pattern but they were both left feet. Oh well!

My collection of "England" flags that I have collected from the side of the roads will be on sale just before the 2010 World Cup (Some of these have been hangind round since Euro 2004).

August 2008.

Now here's a worry.

Last week I lost a shoe that I was carrying in a bag in my car. Does this mean that one of my shoes is now laying in the road somewhere?

July 2010.

Oh dear.

I now have an excess of "England" flags. I'll pay someone to take them away.....

July 2010 - post World Cup exit.

Supermarkets are now undercutting my prices and THEY are selling brand new flags Another million pound making idea bites the dust!

May 2012.

With the Euros 2012 fast approaching, I see that Wilkinsons have flags on sale for 45p.

I just can't compete.
