Finally getting around to a few changes
Former chemistry undergrad at Birmingham Uni - lived through one of the first sit-ins at a University - LSE got there just before us. Moved on to do research at Manchester University, they now call what I did genetic engineering - but research wasn't my cup of tea.
The sit-ins followed me to Manchester where a lecturer in Economics who had been at Brum moved to a post at Owens and he was clearly the main agitator behind the sit-ins. However just a historical footnote the President of the Student Union at Manchester who was also very active was none other than Jack (New Labour) Straw.
Lived in the States a few years and I'm now living in Germany flying an X-ray telescope out of the European Space Agency's operating centre in Darmstadt.
Hobbies include golf, wind-surfing, ski-ing, Scrabble, ballroom dancing, reading and H2G2.
Since writing this three years ago I have moved on to other projects now working (Nov 2003) on a satellite flying to the Moon - Smart-1.
