Babel o' fish
BABELA Personnel View
Most of us, if not all, on h2g2 are here because of the Hitchiker series and to pay homage to Douglas Adams.
Researchers I have found helpful, witty and wise include:
Archangel Galaxy Babe. If you want to know anything, ask her and if the Archangel doesn't know she will soon put you in touch with someone who does. Her networking skills are second to none. She also runs the excellent Keeper Page which is well worth investigating.
A girl called Ben. A wise and good person. Has a penchant for laughing loudly in Sweden (and all points N, S, E and W).
Mina, purveyor of fine headache remedies.
Argon0. An excellent researcher who is *keeper of 42isms* and will assist you in achieving thenumber of 42 from your ID. Mine is U170957:
Orcus. This guy's a Liverpool FC fan. 'Nuff said; apart from the fact that he's joint champ on The H2G2 Quiz run by Greebo.
Amy the Ant runs the H2G2 Natural History Museum which is Highly Recommended.
A Personal View
There are many things that shape our lives and our attitudes towards it. Family and friends are taken as read. What's left?
"If Music be the Food of Love...play on" - Shakespeare, Twelfth Night.
The first person to make an impact on my life, musically, was Bob Dylan nearly 40 years ago.
After him, come the usual suspects from the '60s:
The Beatles, Pink Floyd, Cream, Captain Beefheart, Frank Zappa, The Who (what no Guide entry?!), etc...A skim through the decades lights up such luminaries as Joy Division, Nirvana, The Fall, U2, Dreadzone, Pulp, Garbage, Luna, Clinic et al.
Hmmm, there does seem to be some Guide Entries to be written (don't look at me - it's taken a year to get this far!)
"Wherever books are burned, men, also, in the end are burned" - Heinrich Heine.
The first "proper" book I remember reading was Winnie the Pooh. One of the best books I've ever read must be Lord of the Rings which also implicatesThe Hobbit
Other favourite authors include: H. P. Lovecraft and Edgar Allen Poe for the horror stories, Samuel R. Delaney, Arthur C. Clarke, George Orwell, Aldous Huxley, Robert Heinlien, Michael Moorcock, L. Ron Hubbard for science fiction. It goes without saying that Douglas Adams and The Hitch-hikers Guide to the Galaxy belong on a different plane...
Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh...
