The proud home of Shrimp
I'm Out!
Due to the fact that I am studying in France for a year and that I do not have that much access to the internet, I am forced to suspend my h2g2 activities for awhile. I'll be back in July 2002. See ya then!
What am I doing Here?
It all started some time ago when I wanted to reply to something someone said to someone else, only to discover that I was not allowed to say something until I was some researcher. I clicked a button. It worked. So welcome to my personal space. Remember, you can leave a note to say hi...
Facts about me, links and affiliations
- I have been proclaimed the keeper of Petty Nitpicking. Claim your own keeper title here.
- Due to my interest in astronomy, I'm a member of the h2g2 Astronomy Society.
- I am very proud that now I am also an exhibit in the Natural History Museum. Look for me under animals -> invertebrates -> crustaceans.
- 182910 = (-1+8) x (-2+9-1-0) = 7x6 = 42
- I've discovered Classic Goo. It's good.
- Just for me, not suited for general audiences: my to do list and bookmarks.
- I am the founding and currently the proud only member of the Campaign for the Liberation of People whose Birthday is on a Famous Date and Usually Passes without anyone Noticing it
- I'm from Belgium and I'm 22 years old. I wanted to mention this somewhere else but I couldn't find a spot where it would seem less unnecessary than here.
- Shrimps rule the planet.
Interests
Other than in the main interest area of any reasonably normal carbon-based lifeform * I do tend to indulge in some other areas of existence.
Books
Although I am not a dedicated book reader, I do enjoy a good Fantasy or Sci-Fi novel. The former include the works of Raymond Feist and Weis & Hickman, the latter the classic novels of Asimov and Clarke. Only one hybrid crossover of both genres (and a whole lot of other genres for that matter) I had the opportunity to be exposed to and that opus is the sole source of existence of this rather neat site.Movies
By my very nature, I devour movies. As often as I have some time I go to the cinema or rent a tape. I will submit an entry about my movie taste later, but right now I can suffice by saying that I like any movie, as long as they're good and are not overdubbed in any language that's not the movie's original. Yes I prefer subtitles. Two more points I'd like to make:
1. There's only one movie site on the internet, and that's the Internet Movie Database. Your cinematic ignorance is now over.2. The best actress ever, in every respect is Helena Bonham Carter. Discussions about this statement are not tolerated. Expect an entry.
Music
I am rather proud to be part of a small, often ridiculised but very vivid musical subculture. Contrary to common belief progressive rock and metal is the ultimate artform of the twenty-first century. Below are listed some of the bands that sadly keep forgetting that survival of the fittest also applies to music, but nevertheless continue to reach new heights and set new standards in musical history *.- Dream Theater
- Spock's Beard
- The Flower Kings
- Symphony X
- Angra
- Superior
- Threshold
- Ayreon
- Fates Warning
- Savatage
- Shadow Gallery
- Nightwish
- Rhapsody
- Marillion
- Genesis*
- Magnitude 9
- Ice Age
- Lemur Voice
- Rocket Scientists
- Kamelot
Much to the distress of most of the sane audience of h2g2, I plan delivering an entry on progressive rock and metal.
Also appropriate to mention under this header is the fact that I actively and violently play the piano and synthesizer, and that I also manage to get some quite distorted notes out of my guitar.
Serious stuff
Having just recently graduated as a politologist (or political scientist), I delivered a dissertation aptly titled 'A Comparison of the Parliamentary Vote in the Belgian Chamber of Representatives and Dutch Second Chamber'. If you happen to have had any questions about this subject for awhile now, this would be a great opportunity to ask them. After all, I'm the expert.Miscellaneous*
I have a passion for astronomy, owning my own modest telescope and I am a member of the h2g2 Astronomy Society. Besides that I love to act (in theatre)and I'm interested in history and politics. I also love a good or . That's as miscellaneous* as it gets.Latest Messages
