Hi Shrimp...

Just dropped over to say hi as I saw what you wrote over at the community soapbox and I wanted to say that that's the most sense *anyone* has spoken over there for ages Personally I've now unsubscribed to all that as it's been going nowhere for weeks/months and is now supremely dull as far as I'm concerned.
Hompage - I see you got the piccie on Led Zepplin. Strange but I've alwys thought Brian May was in Queen but hey ho
Belgium huh? One of those strange an wacky coincidences but I used to have a very good friend here at h2g2 called Dr Kareem who is from Belgium (Brussels) and is also a musician although he's into techno and dance stuff primarily (althoug he'd probably kill me for saying that!). It's a shame as he's left now although I'm still in email contact with him.
I'm pretty into astronomy too but for some reason I've never joined the society here - I guess I'm just not enough in practice these days. Probably my last serious effort at it was to watch the Total Eclipse of the Sun in '99 and that was through layers of (thankfully) thin cloud down in Devon UK.
I see you've found your way around the site pretty well already so I look forward to reading your articles. So have you seen the great actress in Planet of the Apes yet?

Hi Orcus, thanks for dropping by...
About my post at the Community Soapbox, I'm glad you didn't think it was complete rubbish. I wanted to show that even new people like me do read the 'hot' posts and think about them. And that their point of view is not always the same as that of some of the elders. I can imagine why you unsibscribed though
Alot of people here seem to be more or less into astronomy. I guess it has something to do with the theme of DNA's books. The solar eclipse of '99 was a real disappointment of us. We travelled some 400 km into France, and two minutes before totality, one single but suite large cloud moved in front of the sun, only to leave again a couple of seconds (!) after the total phase. Afterwards we heard reports from England that the eclips had actually been visible there. Even bigger
And I haven't seen HBC in Planet of the Apes yet, since it hasn't been released yet over here. I'm counting down the days. You're not able to see much of her face though right?
And I don't know, but that's definitely *not* Freddy Mercury next to 'Brian May'.
See ya around!

I dunno, put a bonde wig on him...
Thing is - it's even Brian May's guitar if you look really closely
We didn't get to see the corona and stuff it was just better than in some parts of Cornwall where it was actually heavily raining! Still glad I went though. the number of people I still see who say 'Oh we had the best view in London' Rubbish! Surely the 'only' way to see it was to go for totality - worth it just for the eeriness and a 360 degree dawn (never have worked out what shepherds would say about Red Sky in the Middle of the Day).
No you don't see her face at all. It's definitely her voice though and she is good in it. I enjoyed it - probably not as good as the original but it is thoroughly good fun

Okay, now look at the ALT= argument of that pic. Better now? You gotta learn to make compromise if you would like to make friends you know!
Glad to hear that on that particular day not the *whole* of England had a clear visibility in the totality zone. And of course we did have the 360° dawn, but still the disappointment was very big as you can imagine.
Okay the Apes are out now, so one of these days I'll check it out. What did you think of Bridget Jones' Diary (if you happen to have seen that one)?

Alt = ROFL!
Sorry not seen that I'm afraid. Planet of the Apes broke quite a long dry patch at the cinema for me - the last film I saw before that was 13 Days - which was excellent.
Key: Complain about this post
