A Conversation for The Myth Of 42 [(5-3+0+5) * (6+0) = 42]
Are we allowed decimals?
six7s Posted May 10, 2009
I can't see why not...
But there's no need...
((9 + 9) / 3) * 7 + 1 * 0 * 5
= (18 / 3 ) * 7 + 0
= 6 * 7
= 42
Are we allowed decimals?

Yes, I know, but 4 is my lucky number, so I thought I'd show off and find 4...
So of course, I haven't got them with me now, so I'll post them later.
Thanks.

Ok, here goes:
(9+9)*3-7-1*0-5
18*3-12
54-12
42
(9/9+3*7-1)/0.5
(1+21-1)/0.5
21/0.5
42
(9*9-3+7-1)*0.5
(18+3)*0.5
21*0.5
42
and my favourite:
(because there's no parentheses)
9/9*3*7*10/5
1*21*2
42

/Inverse tan of 1??? Inverse tan of 1? Don't talk to me about the inverse tan of 1.

(9*9-3+7-1)*0.5
!= (18+3)*0.5
(9 * 9 - 3 + 7 - 1) * 0.5
= (81 + 3)*0.5
= 84 * 0.5
= 42
(9 + 9 - 3 + 7 - 1) / 0.5
= 21 / 0.5
= 42

(9*9+3)/(7-1*0-5)
=84/2
9*9+3-7*(1+0+5)
=84-42
9+9+3*(7+1+0*5)
(9+9)/3*7*1+0*5
9-9+37*1+0*5
or, the 'cleanest' one I could find:
9-9+37+10-5
