Coming This Weekend!

  • The h2g2 Summer Party 2002, 20th July

Twice a year h2g2 throws a big party in London to which all Researchers are invited. This year is no exception!

The party kicks off around 2pm at the Bandstand in Hyde Park with either softball or outings to museums/exhibitions depending on the weather.

At 7pm everyone adjourns to a pub, The Leicester Arms, for more fun and frolics. I have heard, from a reliable source, that the prizes for the Badge Competition and the quiz are exciting and well worth trying to win!
Subscription to this event is pretty full (I make it 86 definites!), but there is room for maybe one or two more. More information can be found at The h2g2 Summer Party 2002 page.

  • The Pennsylvania Dutch Meet

After the success of the first Alton Towers meet in 2001, another bigger, better meet-up is being planned for 2002. As per last year, this will be a weekend-long meet, with accomodation in the form of camping/caravans, at The Star campsite near Alton Towers. The meet is to be held on the weekend of

The All H2G2 Patrick Rafter and Tennis Appreciation Club

We are so impressed by the full description of this new venture given to us by Caper Plip that we are publishing the entire introduction.

Missing Wimbledon, but can't wait until the US Open? Can't
wait to see Marat, Tim, Lleyton, Jennifer, Venus or Serena in action again?
Do you love the players for their technique and excellent ball control, as
well as their other aesthetically-pleasing features?smiley -

And if not, why not?

The All H2G2 Patrick Rafter and Tennis Appreciation Club is for
all those tennis fans on H2G2, who love the thrill of the sport but rue the
lack of broadcasting on good-old terrestrial, and want the coolest player on
the circuit, Patrick Rafter, to pull himself out of retirement and amaze the
crowds once more! Become a member, apply for a job on the management, wander
the grounds in style. Buy fruity snacks from Safin's Strawberry
... celebrate triumph in the Banquetting Hall... learn how to
do a proper tantrum at the McEnroe Lecture Theatre... and much more,
including knocking up on our exclusive grass and clay showcourts! And can
you solve the mysteries of the Club?

But if you really want to know what goes on in the Locker Room,
this is the place to find out! Who knows, you might even bump into a player
or few...
