"Aye
If and only if you can remove it when the servers can not stand the load. And for the same reason not during the Quikend. "

The first thing that occurred to me was about; "'dead spaces' we hope to kick-start again"
How would these people know? If you mean users that have 'left' to lurk only.
Or do you mean 'clubs' that have died off? Maybe they were meant to die, as the members integrate into the bigger picture?
If it ain't broke, don't fix it. It's not a 'no' it's a why?

Good points fluffylump, but the truth is, well, it's just an experiment. There's no great strategy behind it other than to get the front page moving a bit. And we do have experience of old pages sort of kick-starting a bit when we give them a plug. In the case of personal spaces though, we've decided we won't link to them unless Researchers have agreed to it beforehand.
Talking of which - Milla, Mr Dreadful and TRiG - you've all got a wee link on the front page.

Ok, so it's slightly exaggerated, but it takes several minutes, and I'm on a very fast broadband connection. It must be a nightmare for somebody on dial-up.

It took about 15 seconds when I just tried it. Takes an age to read though!*
*which is a good thing.

Good grief, then don't mention that it takes long, I'm not on dial-up, I don't mind.

Aye, but I'll need to fix it up during Easter and make it remotely accurate
