Traveller in Time overloading the server already
"It takes the server over ten seconds to assemble my page, splitting the page up it comes down at the friends lists for the most part. All other parts load separated in less then a second.
If a Researcher with loads of friends is promoted on the frontpage we can expect many more visitors then ususal.
The servers run 'problem free' for months on end now. This is accomplished by unleashing the software but also by limitations applied to the use. We had the info pages promoted about a year ago, I found out the link was gone as the servers showed some reaction again. "

"Featuring PS's on the FP is a good idea, but it should be done with the researcher's approval"
Yeah, I'd agree with that. But I still think we should have the top 5 busiest convos back. I used to end up in all sorts of interesting and strange places when that was in place. Now it is harder to find where people are when I'm bored.

Ooh, the info page: The er's friend!
RE: the question at hand.
If there was a way of displaying a PS without the associated conversations and journal entries I'd be up for it (I'm quite proud of my PS, though it needs updating somewhat), but as there isn't I think it would encourage thread barging by newbies who, understandably, know no better.
How about setting PSs up so that non-registered peeps can only see the PS and the guide entry list? That might reinforce the idea that h2g2 is about the guide and the conversation is, officially, secondary.

That's a good idea but would probably require a bit too much recoding of the DNA engine.
Which we know there isn't the resource to do (although if you let me off me license fee for a bit I'd give it a go Auntie Beeb!).

I'm not really here Posted Mar 14, 2007
There did used to be a way of viewing a Personal Space as an entry, but it was changed so that the A page directed straight to the U page. Shame really, but at the time h2g2 was pretty much all on its lonesome and I expect there was no idea that DNA would become so busy we'd lose a lot of functionality.
