Coming to this rather late, I would appear to be in a minority who's not particularly keen on this idea. As someone asked earlier, I'd like to know how PSs would be chosen. Might there not be a perceived element of favouritism/elitism?

What I would like to see is 'who's online' to show only those on h2g2, or at least differentiate users. Perhaps if some of the links were only shown on the front page, that would make people visit it more often?

Well, there's always the chance that some people might perceive things in a certain way, granted. What we can say is we genuinely don't do 'favourites' here in the towers, we really don't. We love you all! Seriously, life's too short and we're too busy. We just don't go there.

Godd idea but we can't implement this technology. It's out of our hands. However, it has been noted and should we get development time it's certainly one of the things we'll be considering.

Proposed compromise: whenever I post to let someone or some group know they are being linked to from the front page, I insist on using caps eg: ** FRONT PAGE LINK TODAY 21/03/2007 **

However, in future I will refrain from using caps in any other circumstance. I will also quieten down the subject line here as well.
