Derek, hello, we've not met before I don't think. Is the quote of the day on the FP meant to go to post 1 of this thread, or to the exact post with the quote in it? It's a bit of an ask for researchers to read 170 odd posts to find az's brilliance

Traveller in Time reading frontpage quotes
"It is intentional, the idea is to point interesting conversations, reading just 160 postings does only get readers involved before they reply.
There have been threads far longer then that promoted. Where the quote was somewhere in the middle ."

Surely the alert hootooer would jump to the end and work backward, as the quote is presumably from the day before it appears on the Front Page?

Yeah but a newbie, or a non-alert hootooer might not think to do that. I only jumped to the end because I wanted to see what was still being talked about (I was already subbed but had stopped reading a while back).
Traveller, there's no way I would have read 170 posts to find the source of that quote

Traveller in Time on top
" one was from 'cancel' something like 'i want 2 cancel this account what 2 do'
Actually I have never found who was quoted but I have a suspicion . "

Geggs Posted Mar 23, 2007
Now, I believe you would be able to find that quote in the first post of the relevent thread. So there wuld be no problem in searching for that one.
Not that I'm saying who said it. Dear me, no. I'm just not going there.

This Derek bloke is tickling the dark underbelly of hootoo and slapping it on the front page.
Be afraid. Be very afraid.

Where has the smiley gone ?
Traveller in Time quoting todays quote

>Trust me honey, compared to me you are young. Enjoy it while it lasts.

There was definitely a significant smiley on that line .
Our Dear Hunney is getting old indeed "

On a more serious note we're presently looking into why we're not linking directly to posts. There's a reason for it - technically speaking - but we can't remember what it was. We'll get back to you asap.

Derek Posted Mar 23, 2007
Right. The Quote Of The Day will now link directly to the quote. The technical reason for us not previously doing this is that we, er, forgot how.
