Sorry, I didn't mean to be so negative there. Jobs are out there, it's just being in the right place at the right time. Just be in as many places as you can, and that will help.

Good luck with the job search, Mr. D. Since you're losing your job, why don't you qualify for redundancy pay? Is there a time limit or something involved?
Marv, I'm glad you've found something challenging. That makes the work day so much more satisfying.

Asteroid Lil - Offstage Presence Posted Jul 14, 2009
The circus came to my house this morning. Strange Bird came full speed through the cat door just as I was getting up, carrying a young mockingbird. Alive and more or less well.
All the cats went into overdrive as Birdie opened her mouth and the fledgling began to fly around the house. I saw three black streaks head for the front window from three different directions, but the fledgling escaped the trap and flew to the window by my bed, the sill of which is five feet off the ground.
As I lay there, resting on my elbows, one foot already on the ground, Birdie entered, took one bound to the foot of the bed on the left and used it as a trampoline to jump at the window sill (window's on the right of the bed) where the fledgling had stopped to catch its breath. In a moment she chinned herself, caught the bird again, pushed off and twisted in mid-air, this time clearing the bed completely, heading back toward the kitchen.
By this time I was getting into the wchair, and made it into the kitchen right behind her, where the other cats were giving her a standing ovation. She knows by now that I am a stealer of booty, so, luckily for me, she darted under the wchair and back out the cat door, bird still firmly in mouth, and followed by the enraptured Joe and Thumbelina.
It was really a sight to see.

That sounds like fun, Lil. Poor birdy. Ah well, it's in their nature.
So long as they don't leave the remains on the doorstep (thanks, George )

Mr. D, that's not fun at all. I'm sending you good job-hunting vibes!
So, an ex-friend took D to the beach today. D and her son are great friends, and I think he's a lovely boy, but his mother -- ugh! She's a drama queen with no ability to recognize other people. For instance, a couple of years ago (and the breaking point in my friendship with her), I was having a fairly scary reaction to a medication, and her response was to berate me for a) taking the drug in the first place and b) not telling her about it.
A bit...much, really. I just hope she doesn't think that our children's friendship means we have to be friends.

The gullibility of people sometimes surprises me. A coworker has a flight simulator on his PC. We decided to "fly" from Salt Lake City to Tahiti. We took the F-16 option and 6 hours. I noted that we did note have tanker support and that it was a non-stop flight. People on facebook are telling me they are jealous!

Hyp, yes, I'd say that teaching a bunch of kids to tap dance means you have indeed all lost your minds.

When I was a kid, you could get a little 'tapper' and hold it in your hand, and pretend to tap - all the while clicking the thingie in your hand to simulate the taps. Yeah, okay, entertainment options were limited.
I have been an extremely busy person the last week or so - training on a new program, and put in charge of a new project. Added job security is a good thing, but it also added much to the stress level.
Found a new website to enjoy - along the same lines of www.thisiswhyyourefat.com, but it's called www.thereifixedit.com. Full of redneck solutions to difficult problems. My favorite has to be the smoke detector.

I'm horribly worried about D. She has a bit of a sunburn, but she's had worse. But tonight, she came into the living room to have me put lotion on her, and then got VERY pale (so much so that I thought she was going to faint). She said her head felt stuffy and heavy. I had her sit down, and she said she felt like her heart was going to stop (even though it was going pretty fast). I made her drink some water, but I was worried enough that I asked her if she wanted me to call 911. Then she got weepy and scared.
I'm SO calling the doctor tomorrow. If I had to guess, I'd say it's not enough water combined with anemia, but I'm not taking chances.

Hopeing that D is feeling better and it's just a temporary unpleasaneness. Nasty though. Too Much Sun is horrible.
I think I won't complain about how my arm is still all bumpy and itchy from the mossie bites now.
Bleh, Mr D. That is bad news. I'm sure you'll bounce back, but it is certainly a worry.
Happy Belated Birthday Vip!

It is a worry for you MR, but I'm sure she'll be fine. Kids are hardy animals after all.
You are in a terrible position Mr D. I hope you can manage to get something sorted.

for MrD
Little D, keep feeding her liquids, sports drinks perhaps, or fruit drinks which contain a bit of sugar. And rest.
