From the position of Fond Cyber-aunt, I can tell you that Star is an entirely normal, delightful and intelligent child ... as are his cyber-cousins t'Boy and t'Other.

Well, I must admit that I do survey the kitchen at the end of breakfast and remember that people recommend having dogs at around tis age to save on the clearing up. I hold on to such thoughts quite energetically, in fact.
So, Teuchter, releived to be back in Blighty at last or missing BJ?

>>when observing the babies at our baby groups (seemingly all of them except the Star) who placidly sit there and don't try to escape, rush around and poke everyone and everything is sight,<<
That's my son #1 to a T, Sol. He never bothered to sit, he skipped what is called 'robben' here (moving forward on your belly) in favour of crawling when all the others had just learned to turn themselves around. He started walking at nine months, and the next thing was that he climbed the furniture.
He never slept for a whole night for the whole first year, and I only weighed 7.5 stone as a result.
He got calmer after elementary school and he's now the son who is in absolutely no hurry to find himself a job or anything.

I have only met them briefly, but all the Salonista children I've met have been lovely, even if t'Boy managed to tire me out somewhat!
Sol, I am actively looking. There's just, unsurprisingly, not much out there.

We're having quite the thunder-and-lightning storm here this morning. I love to snooze to the sound of rain.

Me too -- it's enormously soothing, unless you know your roof has a leak.

We had strong t-storms overnight and this morning, as well. They must have been more wide-spread than usual.
It's great to have Teuchter back at the Towers, all in one piece, sans swine flu and injuries from earthquakes or riots. Also nice to hear the old homestead is still standing.
David, your system is clearly a lot different than ours, but I find it odd that catalogers aren't considered professionals. Proper cataloging is one of the bones of any library. It would be even more important in an academic setting than a public one.

minichessemouse - Ahoy there me barnacle! Posted Jul 13, 2009
I was talking about this sort of thing last night. According to my mum I was walking at 8 moths old. I don't think I was a particularly pleasant child. Asked a million questions about everything and was a terrible cry baby. Due to both my parents being effectively a generation behind I also knew better than to backchat or disobey orders. I knew at age 8 that when I got home from school I had to take the dog out and then wast the dishes before I was allowed to watch TV.
In other thoughts, I am very excited to start volunteering with some Scouts or Cub-scouts come September. It has been over a year since I did. My flatmate Dave is going to work towards his leadership qualification and I think I may do the same, I started my Guiding leadership qualification when I was 18, but I moved away from home before I could finish it. I would like to potentially have both Guiding and Scouting qualifications.

Well, I'm back from the lakes. Did you see me wave WA? The advertised paintballing did not take place (numbers were rather low, but I don't know if we'd have been lively enough by Sunday anyway) but we did climb the Old Man of Coniston and drink some very nice beer (and some Stella).

Magwitch - My name is Mags and I am funky. Posted Jul 13, 2009
Persisting down here, now - although was fairly pleasent out this afternoon.
Caught up with Torchwood last night. I was two days behind. I really enjoyed it.
None of my boys could sit still as toddlers, the youngest still can't.

We'll soon be able to have a proper scout (and guide - although for a Dane it's, usually, one and the same thing) corner in the Atelier
1 more day at w**k, then it's "Blue Summer" - 18,000+ Scouts in a southern corner of Denmark!

the Scouts and the Guides seem to be a bigger deal in the EU than they are here; most drop out before 13-14. I didn't even last that long, was gone by 11 (blush). It was the Sixties, though not much of an excuse.
David, you've got my admiration for taking a chance like you did. As you say, not much out there if it hadn't worked.

David, that makes sense, actually.
The pub is dead today, and I've got no reason to be here. It's just...dead.
