Summer dehydration can be serious. I hope the extra fluids have made D feel better, MR. That's a scary situation.

It's very nearly wedding day. smiley - boing I've forgotten the time. Afternoon? Early evening? Doesn't it stay light there until very late? Ooooooooh, this is so exciting.

There is nothing even remotely interesting or quirky going on here right now. I'll have to live vicariously through the rest of you today.

Good Doctor Zomnker (This must be Tuesday," said GDZ to himself, sinking low over his Dr. Pepper, "I never could get the hang of Tuesdays.")

Morning all.

Sounds like a case of sunstroke or heatstroke, MR. Plenty of fluids, shade and bed rest ought to do the trick.

Montana Redhead (now with letters)

I'd say sunstroke, too, if it wasn't for the fact that this has happened before, although not to this degree (which says to me some sort of anemia coupled with dehydration). At any rate, we're going to the doctor tomorrow.

Hope it's nothing serious, MR.

Magwitch - My name is Mags and I am funky.

I hope D gets better soon, MR. Going to the doc is good - even though it does sound like heat/sunstroke to me, also (I had it once, not pleasent)

After a rather damp start to the day it turned out nice again.

Just watched a trailer for Bioshock 2 for the 360 (guess who can't wait 'til the end of October now? smiley - silly)

No rain so far on St. Swithin's day, and therefore according to legend it will be dry for the next 40 days. But I remember years when it has not rained on St. Swithin's day but it still rained on and off for the next 40 days.

The whole dehydration , heatstroke , lack of salt thing can make you feel pretty awful . Had it myself once . I drank more [ water honest ] and took salt tablets .

Well it peed it down on St. Swithin's here. Luckily, my Mum sats that the Met office has actually done research on the phenomonon and officially pronounced it codswallop. I do hope my tax dollars weren't spent on that. Who funds the Met office?

Poor D! Yeah, it sounds like heatstroke or heat exhaustion to me. Lots of lukewarm water is what I hear, although who wants to drink lukewarm water? smiley - ill

Last time I had to do an outdoor festival, I had a spray bottle full of ice-cold water. I sprayed it on my face about every five minutes or so. I also had a box fan pointed directly at my face. If I get too hot, it really does a number on my nervous system, so I've got to be careful.

I got up the other day and went outside at 9:00 am or so to unload the car. An hour later, I was sweating profusely, my heart was hammering, I felt dizzy and cold, and overheated at the same time. Sheesh, it's hot! I don't do 102° F very well.

We've been discussing, rather wishfully, where we'd like to live if it wasn't in Texas. Texas is good for employment and cost of living, but the weather is rapidly becoming intolerable. My vote has been for someplace in the Northwest, like Oregon or Montana or Washington State. Maybe Colorado or Missouri or Nebraska, depending upon where the jobs are.

Ouch, Ouch, Ouch!!!!

Just come across this, and realised what is happening....

DO NOT GIVE PURE WATER!!!!!

When you sweat, your body loses vital sodium.

If you give water, make it very lukewarm, but add salt. IT IS VITAL.

Water alone makes the person sweat more, with a greater loss of Sodium...

Good Luck.
