Britains for Gibberish!
The Doc Posted Sep 23, 2009
Fiends, Romans, Countrymen and Country Ladies
Lend me your Brighton Piers.
I come to bury Perplexing Appleonia, not to braise him;
The gibberish that that men do lives after them,
The barmy postings is oft interred with their bones,
So let it be with Appleonia ... The noble Captain
Hath told you Appleonia was ambitious:
(And quite clearly round the twist)
If it were so, it was a grievous fault,
And grievously hath the Cap'n answered it ...
Not with platitudes, platypusses or any other aquatic animal
But "Here" under leave of 2Legs and the rest,
(For 2Legs is an honourable thing; much admired
So are they all; all barking mad men)
Come I to speak at Perplexing Appleonias barbeque ...
She was my friend - not Applonia, that barmaid up the spotted Cow, You know the one, skirt up to here, boobs out to there
faithful and just to me: (No, really she was faithfull that night)
But Brutus says Applonia was ambitious;
And Brutus is an honourable man…
For is it not true that his aftershave is legend
Especially in Romford and Southend
And it does not break the bank
He hath brought many Barmaids home to Essex,
Whose ransoms did the general coffers fill:
Did this in Romford seem ambitious?
When that the poor were baffled by Applonias postings,
The Captain hath wept:
To the Boozer he travelled, to see the light
Ambition should be made of sterner stuff:
Yet Brutus says he was out of his skull
On Special Brew, Absynth and Diesel shots
Yet Brutus is an honourable man, and he did do the nominated driver thing.
Which was good and the Lord did smile mightily
As he too, had consumed a skinfull
You all did see the Cap'n head bowed over the throne
Speaking to God
So thrice did Brutus present him the kingly Nurofen,
Which he did thrice refuse: was this ambition?
Yet Brutus says he was sober, and that no one else was;
And, sure, he is an honourable big girls blouse of a man.
I speak not to disprove of what Brutus spoke, or wore, or his choice of high heels
or his penchant for 70's Mary Quant black eye makeup
And Barry White music
But here I am to speak what I do not know.
Which shall cause me great pain, for how can one speak
what they do not know?
You all did love him once, and sure, not without payment of some kind:
But what cause withholds you then to mourn for Appleonia now?
O judgement! thou art fled to brutish beasts,
Which lets face it, every so often is just what a girl needs
And men have lost their reason. And Wallet. And Car Keys…
But Bear with me;
My Gibberish is in the coffin there with Appleonia,
And I must pause till the Boozer opens once again
And Lil, that barmaid I was talking about earlier
Doth come back to me.
With the results of the test.........

Ahhh, sweet Mariella
What charmed prose you do write
It stirs my lions to hear such sweet musings from a Lady
Especially from one who is not working behind the bar at Hooters
Pray my Lady that you write again - set my Lions free!
Until the next time.....sweet Lady

I love a good troll wreck. And I could listen to Captain Black and jwf hold forth in tongues forever, but at this point my continued presence on this thread would constitute troll feeding.
Me go now.

My time here in this place is done
So forsooth I board the last moped bound for Freedom City
Away from such trivia, and things, and stuff
For was it not once said
By men such as the Pythons
That it is humour that is the greatest force on the planet

Interesting thread especially as the hysteria of some posters in response is easily seen. Some people obviously cannot face complex questions and/or complex interactions without losing it completely. Very real evidence of a dumbed down society. Thank you for such an interesting insight into complexity phobia. You have illustrated it very well with this thread.

I have just been right through the thread. Full marks for your patience with the wilfully ignorant. I found what you had to say intelligent and quite the opposite to the bimbo simpleton statements of the snorters of ignorance. Their impertinence, which by the way IS an understatement, only gave strength to your very clear argument. I had no problems in understanding any of your second language. I recognised all the points you made and think you have described perfectly the engine of mobbing, mutual backslapping, pretence of comedy, and bullying behaviour all masquerading as innocence. Well done.

Wellcome Garden Pilgrim. I see you have joined today.
I´m afraid you are wrong with your appreciation. I´m sorry that you can´t see that most people meant well pointing at her mistakes. Bullying? I´d recommend you to visit the place, to visit the Personal Spaces of other people involved here and mostly read what Apollonia has said in other places. Bullying, mobbing...are really far from this place, which I consider one of the most polite in the web. And you too will be able to appreciate it when you have spent a few days here.
But in any case, without looking anywhere else, she has shown here her bad humour and inflexibility quite clearly.
Take simply that bit of " French intellectual aristo" do you think that´s the way to present oneself in a place?
I think you are being quite partial.

My money's on it being her English man.
And while I'm here, I'll state that the stupidest question is the one which you don't ask. Any questions I posed were a genuine attempt to understand the point or points being made.

Yes, Beatrice, that came second to mind because of the structure of the sentences.

Classical troll behaviour - either create a new researcher identity or get one of your friends to do it to bring credibility to the troll's postings. Didn't work this time *either*.

With posts like the last five I really don't know why the BBC actually bothers to maintain this site. It is self evident that some people are petrified by any sign of intelligence. The mouth washing bullying obsession with the packaging and not what is inside is utterly in the face obvious. If you cannot engage intelligently with the topic why not just say you are not intelligent enough to understand the concept of complexity phobia, that you are incapable of even picking up a virtual dictionary and even postulating what it could be? Instead you perceive something which stretches your intelligence as some kind of threat, herd up and make mooing noises of disgust at the possibility that there IS intelligence in the world. You just don't get it because you don't want it. You can after all cling to and keep on hugging your nice comfortable complexity phobia and make flocking noises. (which incidentally originate from the lizard part of your brain)

I don't perceive any fear here. More like genuine attempts to penetrate the miasma of babble speak along with suppressed guffaws from the more skeptical.
Don't like the company here? Find a place that suits your sensabilities. "Both" of you. But if you are here to create a ruckus, only moderate success achieved.
Captain Black, where have you been all my life. You can recite your poetry to me any time.

hey complexity phobia.... ?
try deducing what it might be.
If YOU can't stand the heat get out of the kitchen.

Titania (gone for lunch) Posted Sep 23, 2009
Or maybe the kitchen ought to get the out of here and leave us non-intelligent (according to troll and sock-puppet) beings alone?

>> hey complexity phobia.... ?

I wouldn't presume to speak for others (besides most of them have left already) but I for one feel confident that I understood the meaning of 'complexityphobia' straight off (as it were).
It is a familiar phenomenon. I see it everywhere and perhaps especially here in cyberspace. It is often simply the refusal to be grim and serious when an opportunity for pleasure and humour and light-hearted silliness is also readily at hand.
Given the choice - oh look we have a choice - I'll usually go for fun and easy over grim and serious and complex every time. But I'm old and tired of trying to change the whirled. And I've realised that nothing anyone has done or can do will change much of anything by design. Feces occur. Life goes on. Blah blah.
Look Ma, I'm talking to a sock-puppet.
peace
