Do guys prefer curvy girls or no curves?
Runescribe Posted Apr 26, 2005
I like being curvy. I'm naturally curvy and I don't see why I should starve myself to look thin. And I'm going to a party in a sari which will reveal my midriff.
As for men...broad shoulders, long hair, long legs are the type I fall in crush with, but the one I fell in love with was slight and unexceptional in appearance.
I think lust attaches itself to looks, but when you're in love with someone a physical attraction develops as well.

to answer the original question "Do guys prefer curvy girls or no curves?" I'd say that some guys prefer a slender, straight-up-an-down figure, and others prefer a curvier figure
Contrary to popular belief, men are all individuals ("I'm not" MP moment, sorry) and prefer different things. The fashion industry is a different beast altogether!
One thing that is always difficult in this sort of thread (although largely avoided here - well done ) is the making of negative comments about slim girls as not being 'real women' or 'womanly' enough, or looking like boys and other such nonsense. We get messages from the world around us all the time and while we larger ladies are frequently given the impression that we are too fat, slim women may feel just as bad about their lack of curves as I feel about the generosity of mine.
Why can't we accept that there is no single 'ideal'? Why do we set ourselves up to fail so often by pursuing unattainable 'perfection' when in reality there are very different strokes for very different folks - just two minutes of browsing the internet will tell you that

I like my little bump on my belly. I like my big thighs. I just wish I was a little more "top heavy" Would be nice to even things out a little...if you know what I mean!

"There is no single ideal" - spot on there.
There's an odd trend these days as well against blokes who prefer the slimmer figure. I have a mate who definately falls for the model good looks, and this is often perceived as being superficial, although he's just as entitled to his preference as I am to mine, so long as he doesn't let physical attributes totally dictate his choice of partner.

Eh?
The calf, thigh, and quadricep muscles all give a general curve to the bones beneath, with the female gluteal muscles producing exaggerated curves. Then there's the skeletal shape conferred by the ribs, hips, and that gap in between, which create a convex-concave-convex sort of arrangement better known as the hourglass figure... whose lines are softened and smoothed effectively by muscle tone or fat (usually a combination), depending. As the eye starts from the bottom up, it encounters a whole range of fascinating curves that are created by muscle tone and skeletal shapes, before finally coming to rest on two rather pronounced convex curves composed almost entirely of fatty deposits, nearly 3/4 of the way up from the ground.
And to answer the original question...
The word "curvy" can be used to describe any woman who is not a stick-figure, which covers anyone from an aerobics instructor to one who can't get through the doorway. Thus, just about every man will answer the question "do you prefer women with curves?" with an affirmative, though he probably means something different than the guy next to him.
As for myself, I prefer women with curves, and I mean it in a somewhat loose manner to define a woman who projects an overall appearance of good health. Stick chicks do not qualify, because they look like they are terminally ill... and counting the number of bean sprouts you've eaten in a day is unhealthy in a completely different way. A healthy appearance covers a range of shapes and sizes, and often has more to do with the way the person carries herself than with physical appearance.
The secret of looking good is no great secret. Eat well, get some exercise, get some rest, take care of yourself, and moderate your excesses. And yet, there are multi-billion dollar industries built around these obvious truths.
And for gods' sakes, throw away the stupid scale.

Well, I know fat is what gives most curves. But if there is too much fat it turns from curves into flabs. And that's what I wanted to avoid.

Or 'Love-handles' as, I believe certain males decribe them, often in an effort to avoid using the F*t word, whilst desperately trying to dig themselves out of a hole of their own making during a conversation with their partner about weight, down the pub
Hypothetically speaking of course- I've never, ever, been in a situation as hypotheticaly described above

There was a cosmetics company, Dove or Nivea or such, that had a slogan "As tested on real curves" at one point. There was a picture of a bunch of women underneath. How do you feel about that campaign? Were those women curvy? Were they sexy? Would the slogan have been better for a car manufacturer?

I thought most of them looked just as skinny as ordinary models, which made the campaign utterly ridiculous.

I don't know which ad you're talking about, but here, dove makes ads with normal women, and they're not skinny. They're young women, or rather girls, but really average, and from what I've heard, the ad is quite successful.

Yeah, they're not as skinny as "normal" models - which I think makes the ad successful! Reddyfreddy was just saying the other day how much he appreciated looking at all these billboards full of lovely women in their undies.
