Well, next time you get on the bus, train, metro, etc, take a good look around. You will probably find that the majority of people are not particularly good-looking (because, let's face it, most people aren't). And yet many of them are *very* attractive to someone else.
Being so-called 'good-looking' is hardly a personal accomplishment, is it? - it's mostly a combination of genetics and whether your particular 'look' happens to be in vogue at the moment.
Meanwhile, anyone can be beautiful, depending on who is doing the beholding.

I can normally find something attractive about most people (except perhaps Sonia from EastEnders), but at my advanced age and experience I can definitely confirm that people get better looking the more you like them.
As for curves being in the right places - I think that varies from person to person what the right places are!

thats very true,do you also find if you start to dislike someone they become uglier? I knew a guy once who i thought was gorgeous at first, but the more of his sucky personalty i got to know the more he turned into a minger before my very eyes!

Yes. I was trying to avoid saying that, but as you've said it, I'll just join in! One of my exs (never been on h2g2 so I'm safe to say this) is one of the ugliest people I've ever seen. I can't see why I ever liked him in the first place! And I look at photo's of my ex-husband and think how lovely he was and then see him in real life and he's just not the same anymore. I think it was his long hair!
A couple of my other exs I still feel exactly the same about lookswise - I still fancy one of them! Just couldn't wait while he went off sailing round the world.

Well, I've heard it said that 'anything more than a British Standard Handful is a waste of time having'. But I beg to diagree, I like the cups to runneth over.
I think Rubens had just about the right idea of feminine beauty.

I think my friends are gorgeous, so...I suppose I think they're good looking because I like them. Once someone is known to me, I find it hard to see just what they look like, because that's caught up and imbued with the things I know about them, and the memories and so on...perhaps the only time you really get a good honest look at someone is before you meet them.

We had a discussion about this earlier, and came to an overwhelming "Yes, guys likes curves." Although the women and gay men who control the fashion industry don't.
I don't know what constitutes curvy, when it comes down to sizes. And like Lucky Star said, they seem to differ from each country. Besides I think it is about proportions, not about size. I tend to mention Kate Winslet as well, because when Titanic came out I heard so many women go on about her being a cow. Whereas I find her damned sexy. Same with that Janine/Charlie girl from Eastenders. She wasn't slim either, but still quite attractive.
However, flabbiness is not very attractive. There needs to be a certain firmness to it. There's quite a few girls here in Ireland who are probably a rather small size, but probably due to too much beer drinking, they have "flotado" as a Spanish girl called it. Which when combined with tight pants and tank top creates flab.
A guy like Kevin James is big built. So he is not flabby, like a person of a smaller build would be with the same weight. I could imagine a girl liking him.

I suppose I prefer curves, but I really don't care. Slim women can look and feel great, and so can curvy ones. It's not really a big issue for me.

Marilyn Monroe was a size 16 so if Kate is curvy what was Marilyn?
Apart from amazingly beautiful...

azahar Posted Apr 23, 2005
Marilyn existed back in the days when models weighed maybe about 7% less than the average woman. These days models weigh almost 25% less. That's quite a difference.
Kate is quite slender. Curvy? Perhaps when stuffed into a corset.
Meanwhile we seem to keep being told that certain women are curvy. Like Naomi. This kills me. She is straight up and down - her body looks very masculine to me. Curvy and voluptuous? I don't think so.
But if you read it enough times - do you start to believe it?

I certainly think that explains the Kate Winslet subthread that's emerging here - mocked by UK tabloids around the time 'Titanic' came out for being too plump, same old theme to the headlines over and over again over a relatively short period of time but in a very intensive way: hey bingo, she's chubby.
What nonsense. Unfortunately, pretty effective nonsense, if it's reiterated enough.

Think what damage this does to impressionable girls who otherwise have perfectly normal healthy figures, if the popular press are referring to women like Kate Winlet as being 'chubby'.

I rather fancied Sophie Dahl in her original incarnation. Definitely a curves man. The gf wonders whether she is "curvy" in a b-cup - I think definitely so. I too am a little curvy myself, although she says she doesn't mind the bulges and is positively interested in one particular bulge!
I'll get me coat
