hi, how are you Helelou?
Isn't it funny how a thread called Interracial Breeding which was started by a raving lunatic of a racist bigot (shan't go on) . . . is *still* about interracial breeding but from the totally opposite viewpoint?
Still miss PYT sometimes, though. He/she tended to perk things up quite a bit. I wonder if he/she has managed to breed him/herself back into the sea by now? (remember that one? )
ah, such fond memories. . .

Even if that mission is to provide an opposing viewpoint that allows others to see their own position more clearly.
I have really enjoyed this thread, does anyone know of any other such thought provoking and interesting discussions?

To backtrack a bit, the business about pre-judging people. There was a study done years ago, which showed that if you put a big group of people together in a room, and told them they were not allowed to talk to each other, but to pair off, they invariably paired off with people with similar emotional histories. Judging is largely subliminal, it seems, so the child who "senses" the untrustworthy adult is not the exception. Of course, obvious appearance and similar considerations will quickly click in to help solidify our "judgement," but it seems the judgement is usually made within seconds of meeting a person, for better or for worse.
In my own mixed-race case, I saw her "across a crowded room," and fell hopelessly/hopefully in love!( Aaaaaaaaah.) And our half Indian half Irish(English, Scottish and the Lord knows what else ) children are gorgeous in every way. (Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaah.)

"A friend of mine (ATFIM) has a girlfriend (TYS) who can't tell her parents about him because they will not approve of his religious views. ...
These'll be the first social constructs discarded come the revolution."
Depressingly .... #It ain't necessarily so .. #
Remember the Shah of Persia .... ?
Oh, add me to the list of seekers of wisdom regarding ATFIM & TYS, IYP (if you please).

Sit back and watch, quietly.
She might be pulling his leg for other reasons.

Helelou-
*raving lunatics often crystallize peoples thoughts, don't they?*
I would say more, but I am sure I would be moderated for commenting on the conflict.

On the pre-judging issue - its more of a personality shown through body-language and clothing thing than based on any prejudices, if you get waht I'm saying.

Okay, going to out on a bit of a limb here and say this!
I was raised (so to speak) by a total racist and although I never believed that what he ever said was true or right, sometimes when I see - for example - a black person or a Pakistani I *hear* the words 'stupid n****r' or 'goddamn Pakki' go through my head. These are NOT my words, yet I still hear them after all the negative conditioning I went through as a child. I end up sometimes feeling so embarrassed and ashamed for even these fleeting thoughts, because they do make me feel ashamed, even though I know they aren't anywhere close to what I truly think or believe.
It's so insidious, all this racist stuff. It lurks. It infects one's mind. I am very happy that I am so far from being a racist at all that I can see these 'fleeting thoughts' for what they are. Conditioned reflexes. But what about other people? I mean, even PYT. Do you think this person is maybe just lost in a sea of nastiness and doubt that he/she cannot think straight? I'd like to give PYT the benefit of the doubt. I personally know how hard it was to live with a racist/bigot who just happened to be my father. And to come out of that believing the total opposite of what he used to preach.

hoping you all won't think less of me for admitting this

Strange list of acronyms. How does one pronounce IYP?
Will I have to read through acres of backlog to solve the mystery?
Indian and Irish(/Scottish) seems to be a lovely mixture. For some reason the children always turn out beautiful.

hi Tefkat,
IYP? Were you referring to PYT? The person who started this thread?
And where did you get Indian/Irish (Scottish) from? That's me! Or did you know that? Spooky!

Hi az
The Indian/Irish comment was a response to a comment of Chaiwallah's and the sets of initials were in plaguesville's post (quoted from Thingy's on the previous page - sorry, can't rember the name, was it Acid O?)
You'll be beautiful too then?

Mine are Scottish/Irish/American/Portugese/Dutch/Indian/miscellaneous mutt. Unfortunately I seem to have got the duff genes but adding some more Scottish/Irish/English and some Viking seems to have worked for the kids. They're all beautiful.
