So... should brunettes be allowed to interbreed with blondes, or what?
Seriously, since this thread has wandered RIGHT off, and PYT doesn't look like coming back, I'm unsubscribing. I trust someone will give me a nudge if it gets "interesting" again...

Having quite a headful of pelo frito, I think the expression is great

hmmmmm . . .
Well, shame on us for 'lowering the tone'
Told ya we need PYT here to keep us perky.
Anyhow, it wasn't totally off topic as the hair thing has to do with HOW we got that hair in the first place - by interracial breeding!
Oh well, can't please all of the people all of the time.

hi deni,
Well, maybe *you're* happy!
Me? Hate my hair totally to death. My cross to bear. The bane of my existence!
Gel, gel and more gel. And then hairspray.
It's not easy being me.

Having tried every hair-straightening procedure known to man and beast (including - many years ago - dousing with extra-strength setting lotion and cellotape), I've decided pelo frito is a sign of intelligence !
Never known a fellow pelo frito disagree !

Hair today....
One wonders what PYT stands for (of course I am not willing to actually go to their space to get clues...)
Perpetual Yuppie Tomboy?
Perspacious Yugoslavian Tory?
Personal Yoga Trainer?

oh sooooo much more rewarding than that....
PYT =
... and I quote....
"purdy young thing"!!!!!!!!
And he/she/it continues on to say "likes laughing, free speech...blah blah blah". Just go back to the initial post in this thread if you don't believe me! Now wasn't THAT worth the wait ?

I will *still* resist the temptation to look at her space. I get the feeling it may most possibly be a girl we were talking to, and that saddens me even more. Ah well, ain't she sweet!

Hi az !
WHY does pelo frito look stupid ? It doesn't matter WHY, it helps you to not judge people by their appearance (stupid hair, foul face, laughable lips, extra-silly ears....) and THAT makes you a better person !
Focussing all your hate on your hair means you have less hate in you to direct to other things/people.
Being a better person who doesn't go around hating everything makes you appear intelligent.
The REAL reason, of course, is just to shut up all those people who tease us about our hair......
intelligently and frito-ly yours,
deni

hi deni,
In fact, nobody teases me about my hair because they never see it in its natural state. Of course I would never judge someone based on their appearance, but I have to say that when I see a pelo-fritoed person I feel much empathy and sympathy.
Anyhow, being prone to exaggeration as I am, I guess I do not actually *hate* my hair. Don't hate anything really, though sometimes I get close (like when dealing with people like PYT). But then I realize that to hate people like that would only lower me to their level.
Also, I don't think the opposite of love is hate. It seems to me that the opposite of love is not loving and so he opposite of hate would be . . . indifference?

Hi again fellow-pelo (frito) !
It seems we share some of the same general outlook on life rather than just frito-ness. I really agree about the not stooping to their level thing: not always sure I act according to my convictions though because I don't like to feel I'm being walked over. but generally it takes me a lot to START stooping (and I try not to go too far).
Lack of any strong feeling is indifference. But I somehow think that the lack of hate (in what is basically a "hating" situation) isn't quite indifference (or indiscriminate). Maybe it's a feeling of moral superiority [oh dear] or of feeling sorry for a hater's.... lowness, stupidity?
I'm not much of a "hater" either so your question interests me.
More frito-ly than intelligently,
d

Well, we weren't really talking about the lack of hate, but of its opposite. It just seems to me that hate and love are quite separate things (except in the old songs - you only hate the one you love - but even then they are not talking about 'real' hatred, just crankiness and feeling hurt).
Okay, what is the opposite of love then? I said it was maybe 'not-loving' but then that would mean the opposite of hating would be 'not-hating'. Which sounds way too simplistic and not really like any sort of definition at all.
Perhaps we need to re-define (or just define) what love and hate are. Personally, I don't think that humans are capable of either true love or hate. We tend to walk the middle ground most of the time.

Seriously, why on Earth was this thread started? I don't understand how anyone could be so narrow minded and ignorant. The human race = one race. The word race is wildly misused. Humans cannot be separated into different races, its impossible. If there was never any "interracial breeding" then humans would have died out millennia ago.
I think that Purdy Young Thing needs to step back and really think about this, because it doesn't appear to me that they have.

A good point, made often in this thread.
As for why the thread was started- ignorance? Racism? to provoke a reaction? Who knows.
