I'd like to ask if anyone thinks that interracial breeding is really a good thing ?
Surely each race should breed within its own ?

We're talking people. What do you think ?

Could you define inter-racial - do you mean (say) Welsh & Scottish ? Or do you mean (say) Nordic & Hispanic ? Or do you mean something else ?

I mean black and white.

I think that arbitrary rules are always dangerous.
There are obvious problems with different upbringings, but these apply regardless of pigmentation.
Genetically speaking - it is the mixing of different gene pools that has resulted in the human beings we are today.

Don't you think that mixing of gene pools has caused some damage? Would you breed a red squirrel with a grey squirrel?

Red and grey squirrels?
We could make an effort here and compare like with like.

Purdy Young Thing.
Im finding you very insulting. Im half Chinese/half English depending on how you want to look at it. Im sure the gene pool hasnt been damaged, Im not lacking on the intelligence and looks, with a very healthy immune system. So no, each 'race' shouldnt stick to its own. Every individual should 'breed' with who they want.
The human race is one race, the different phenotypes within it are not different races, like the fact that all dogs are the same species, whether spaniel, terrier, collie, or whatever.
So what are you reasons for your statement? It cant just be blind rascism?
*Trying very hard not to get angry and insulting*

You can't. They belong to different genuses (genii)? Anyway. Would I breed a springer with a cocker? Yes.

Purdy young thing, I hope Bob the farmer is wrong in suggesting its just blind racism because if it is, that comment is one of the most narrow minded, petty, sick, childish remarks i've ever heard.

Well, the races aren't as easily defined as black and white. So where would you draw the line? Would arabs be allowed to breed with italians? And what about arabs with syrians?

Xanatic Posted Apr 24, 2003
Well, I'm sure Purdy thinks the goverment should intervene in case somebody wants an interracial marriage.

Well spotted KerrAvon, so called inter-racial breeding or miscegenation is, genetically speaking, no different to cross breeding between dogs (no offence intended).
Plus, if you want to get technical, there is a fairly high probability (almost a dead certainty) that everyone who contributes to this thread is the product of inter-racial breeding.
So anyone who attempts to "maintain racial purity" is on to a loser before they start. They aren't pure to begin with.

Limitless, what exactly don't you understand? This guy doesn't want interracial breeding, and I'm guessing he thinks there should be laws against it as well.

Limitless Posted Apr 24, 2003
Thats what i don't understand. You know there was a german guy who thought the same way once. Don't start with me just because i think people like purdy (If it was a rasist remark) should be seen and not heard with reamrks like that..

If we're going to regard sexual relations between people of different colours / nationalities as 'breeding', let's continue the canine analogy. Somebody said they would happily cross a springer spaniel with a cocker spaniel. This is a great idea - it gives what's known as hybrid vigour. There are a lot of dog breeds out there where the pedigree dog has a tendency towards some congenital defect. Cross-breeds and mongrels don't have this tendency. They're a lot healthier, often highly intelligent and can live for longer.
If you look at DNA, it can be very difficult to tell whether the person is from a particular country, although there are genetic markers for *some* races. Besides, why should it matter?
Just for your information, I'm a mongrel. If you're English, you're a mongrel by definition because of the number of invasions we've had over the centuries. In my case it's more recent. My father was English, my mother is German. My father had Scottish blood from his grandparents (I think). My mother has Danish and possibly Polish blood from her grandparents / great-grandparents. Like canine mongrels, I'm healthy and highly intelligent (and hoping to live a long time). In fact, I'm far too intelligent to consider the idea that there could be anything wrong with interracial relationships!
