I really didn't know you could be rejected from 15-1 for not being 'telegenic'.
Given the looks of some people that have made it on to the show you must have looked *awful*

As I said, I was hungover. Unshaven, baggy eyes, dirty jeans and a T-shirt that read 'Oh Sh*t.' They obviously saw me as something of an anarchist.

were you untelegenic because of the hangover?
Ouch!
The attraction of TWL for me was that it was more than just a straightfoward "get all the answers right and you've won" kind of game. You have to think of so much all at once - how the others are doing, when to bank, what voting strategy to follow AND get your answers right - that it's more of a challenge.
Past its best now I'd say.
Ok B, state capital of North Carolina?

I'm thinking of going on The Weakest Link - not for the money, but because I know it'll give my friends a laugh. On 15-1 we got to meet eachother for a bit, and William G. had a 'chat' with each of us. Is it the same on TWL?

Raleigh.
The description of TWL as 15-1 meets Big Brother was pretty much spot on. I don't like the concept of being voted off for being *too* clever which, while upping viewing figures, rather defeats the object of the quiz. The UK gameshows website:
http://www.qwertyuiop.co.uk/gs
has quite a lot to say on the issue.

Nice weblink Master B.
Actually I think I got ONTO TWL because of my audition Tshirt - I used a gold glitter glue pen to write "Goodbye!" on a black top.
This was ages ago when that fashion was just taking off...

A dog I had years ago was in a TV show. The one I have now's sister was in a movie. As for me, I'm not famous.

yes, let's find the most UN-famous person on h2g2.
has anybody NOT auditioned for a TV quiz show, or had a cat do a voice over, or had their name mentioned in the sports pages of the local newspaper?????
15 minutes of fame. We've all had it.

I've appeared in pictures on the local paper a couple of times. I don't think that I've ever been mentioned by name, though.
I have a story of a brush with almost-fame that a friend had, which is promising for the future. I will warn you that it starts well and has promise, but has a slightly disappointing finish. So here it is:
Ewan McGregor (told you it was a promising start) got 100% full marks on his GCSE Drama practical performance. The examiner who gave him this grade has only ever given full marks to one other performance in his entire career. This was given to my friend Mark Adams. Like I said, it's sort of interesting, but a bit disappointing given the good start. Incidentally, Mark's dad also played professional football, but only for Scottish side Greenock Morton.

Ooh - that reminds me - I had a maths teacher at school who once played professional football for Bristol City (reserves, I think). And my car (that featued earlier in this thread being leaned on by Paul McCartney and John Lennon - not the real Pauo McCartney and John Lennon - you'll have to read the backlog if you don't understand) was originally bought from new by a schoolmaster who had once played professional football for Manchester City (reserves, I think).
There was a thread about tenous links to the famous - I'm going to revive it if I can find it...
