I've just had a moment, getting 2by4s mixed up with 4by4s. I was trying to work out how many wheels they had...
Having never met anyone famous, apart from some football player (who I didn't know was there, I just saw a queue and joined it, he was the result), I can't even get 3 hand shakes away from Jade Goody.

I forgot! Richard Gere has eaten my familys jam!
My Nans sister in law once met Richard Gere (In Mablethorpe, or Scunthorpe of all places!) on the sea front where she had a stand, selling homemade jam, marmalade etc. He bought some, came back the next day, bought some more, then before he left, he asked her to post some over to where he lived

i was wondering if famous people who are hear incognito go into conversations about themselves eg is Terry Pratchett posting to the thread comparing his writing with DNA's>...
a whole new level of paranoia!

Terry Pratchett is on record as saying he subscribes to a few conversation forums about his books, out of curiosity for what people are saying.
He's also on record as saying that he discovered it's totally impossible to prove his identity if he posts in his own name... which when you think about it is perectly correct, anyone could post pretending to be called Terry Pratchett!
So maybe he is here, h2g2 has the sort of logical illogicality that TP's books delight in, it'd be his sort of place!

oh, and sometime around 1981, I met this guy at a prty in North Wales (Flint).
He looked vaguely familiar from somewhere, but I just couldn't place him... fishing for clues as I was, and people who were there will remember the moment, I am the man who said to Ian Rush* "What is it you do then, Ian?"
* Ace goalscorer and multiple European Cup winner for Liverpool and Wales.
This is like saying to Mr Beckham "So what do you do for a living then, David? And your missuus looks vagely familiar from somewhere but I can't place her, maybe I see her on the train every morning or something"
