Referring to the same reference, the music to the Gallery is apparently a piece called "Leftbank" possibly composed by one Wayne Hill and performed by Lance Gambit.
It annoys the hell out of me too,

It has just occurred to me that it may well be taken from The Deer Hunter (or at least 'used in'). That ring any bells with anyone.

I know I have heard the music since then. I also _think_ I saw Tony Hart on TV again not all that long ago. Can't remember what it was though.

Cavatina was by John Williams of later multi-Oscar fame.
So far we have:
Someone whose car's been leaned on
A man who definitely isn't Tony Hart
A woman whose cousin was an extra for 5 seconds in a BBC2 period drama.
Oh, and Dancer, who says she's a celeb.
Other than that, a pretty poor showing. I mean, even I've been on 15-1 once. (crashed out in the first round )

Another interesting question is, are there any people here who are going to be celebrities in the future? (the 'My claim to fame is that I went to school with...' syndrome - as far as I can see, most schools have produced some sort of minor celebrity, and so most people can claim this)
Because if so then there's no way for them to hide themselves, as we'll already know who they are. I mention this because yesterday I found that some of my friends from years back are now a fairly famous band.
Ooh, and one of my uni friends was Kate Winslet's cousin.
Other than that, I'm no celebrity, unless I have some secretive major fan base carefully stalking me.

Wow! You may well be Trevor Brooking's lovechild (not casting any aspersions on your mother, I hasten to add)!
My Mum did actually date Tony Jacklin very briefly at school.

I did! And as the strongest link in the previous round I even CHOSE to go second. Is there any research to prove that second always loses? Or just your observation? Before appearing on the programme my analysis of broadcast shows was that I got more of the "2nd lot" right, so I'd already decided to chose 2nd (and put the pressure on my opponent) if I got that far.
But hey, hindsight's 20:20 !!!

I spent a lot of time sneering at Anne Robinson's inability to ask questions, and felt that the first set were invariably easier.
But you reckon the 2nd set was usually easier...hmm...it could be that the second set more closely followed your specialities (history? politics? current affairs?), whereas I tended to identify more with the first set (music, sport, literature). Any thoughts?

yes the 1st set tend to be obvious subjects - like Sport. About which I know nothing. Whereas the 2nd set are more "trivia" based, which I'm more comfortable with. Plus I'd revised all my South American capitals, and the first question she asked me was "Quito is the capital of where?"
I did have to get her to repeat the Question From Hell that I got wrong - her pronunciation is not good.....

It's tempting to go on the Weakest Link, but I'd rather do something where there's more chance of winning and fewer on-air blushes. Especially since Anne always seems to have particularly cutting comments ready for people who admit that they're students...

Obvious subjects? 'Scuse me. You're talking to someone who has memorised such esoteric trivia as the Home Grounds of all English and Scottish league clubs. Not to mention state capitals. All the Number One hits since 1985 (including full lyrics in many cases). Periodic table of the elemnets. I auditioned for 15-1, but turned up hungover to my audition. They said I was clever enough, but not telegenic, which hurt.
I also narrowly missed a place on University Challenge 2 years ago. Birmingham entered two teams, the other lot beat us and did miserably on the show itself. Meanwhile, my team were sat at home answering the questions and outscored them 150-20.
