I'm not sure the mauve stilettos work though Marv.
I was just pottering round and heard a familiar tune from upstairs, went up to confirm my theory and yes, No2 son was listening to Level 42, one of my favourite bands from the late 80s/early 90s. He said he remembers me playing the cassette in my car and on rehearing them reckons they are a good band. He is now downloading more from Kazaa to burn a CD for me. Of course, they borrowed the 42 from H2G2 as they were great fans of DNA.
Amy, I'm keeping my fingers crossed for a good scan result.

It appears that I have more holiday days saved up than I'm allowed. Our year end was April 30th and I had 34 days saved up at that point. The rules around here (which I had forgotten about) specify that you can't have more than 30 days saved up. So....the end result is that I'm going to take next week off.
Marv, I think you might want to use the leather handbag, rather than the sequined one.

I was testing out this recipe for the new Dandelion Diner and had some left over. If you like it, the recipe is on my personal space.
for Marv.

Welcome, Pattern Chaser!
Sol - we have present simple and three kinds of past. No grammatical future as such.
I dance.
I danced.
I have danced.
I had danced.
Umm.... Was there anything else I wanted to say?
I planted two little plum trees today and a pink peony.

Today was a good day.

What tense is this?
"I will have been being dancing."

We must definitely quest over to the Dandelion Diner!
I had the official results on my blood work-up this morning. My cholesterol is fine. I had been worried about that on account of all the the fat and eggs Dr. Atkins would have us consume, but everything is pretty well balanced so I'll keep eating the oatmeal...
As for the thyroid thing, my THS level (a hormone the pituitary gland puts out when it wants to stimulate the thyroid) was nearly 17, and it should be something like 4 (Z can confirm whether I'm telling this right). There's a curious placebo effect of just feeling incredible relief -- "so ~this~ is what's been wrong...!" Now I await the effects of the synthroid. My biker chick doctor says it will probably be another week before the drug has any effect.

Hi, everyone ! Welcome Pattern Chaser !
I think the most important things an education can give are the love of learning, and the understanding of how to learn. Thus, first and foremost, we should emphasize the three Rs. writing, especially, because it teaches how to think and do research. Much of the rest of what passes for education is really just trendy fluff. The important thing is learning how to educate one-self. If I want to learn about a field unfamiliar to me, (say, auto mechanics, for example ) do I know where to go?
Oh, by the way Z., congratulations on passing your test ! How close to a "grown-up" doctor are you ? What steps do you still have to go through before you actually begin to practice ?
Loved the rock-face, Lil. It reminds me of some of the more spectacular scenes we have here in Utah.

Welcome Pattern Chaser and Congrats Z!
SOUP! Just what I need. How splendid.
"I will have been being dancing" is tense called future perfect in its continuous aspect (future perfect continuous). Form: will + have + been + '-ing form'. Here 'dancing' is a gerund: a verb in the '-ing form' basicially doing the work of a noun. You could say, for example, in a parallel sentence "I will have been doing yoga". Although the preference is not to put two '-ing forms' next to each other like that unless we have to, or use 'been being', so we would probably choose to write "I will have been dancing" with 'dancing' as the verb for elegance sake. When we speak, however, all bets are off.
In context it would have the idea of "for X years as of next month" and you could have started the action in the past or "for X hours by the time the party finishes" which might be linking two future times (or again making a past/future connection). Perfect tenses tend to straddle time boundries/ link two points in time.
Definitely not learning Estonian then, Hati. Sorry, but it's more than my poor brain could deal with.
Deary me, Marv, could that skirt BE any shorter?

I hold you entirely responsible, Amy.
Another gloomy, damp morning. I think summer is on its way.
H and I had thought of having a day out, taking a picnic and getting some fresh air by visiting a National Truat property in Kent: Knole, to which I haven't been in years. Looks like we shall be postponing the trip for a better day.

for all the I've just finished my third year of a five year course, so I've got two more to go before I become a grown up I went out for a few drinks and a meal with some friends, unfortunatly it turned out to be a dodgey curry, so I left before I vomited, because there were a few people there who I didn't know thatwell, so I didn't want them to think I'd drunk to much. I'm still feeling a bit fragile! Now I have to start revising for the written exam on Tuesday
Tsh stands for Thyroid Stimulating Hormone, it's released from the pitutary in response to low leves of thyroxine. Normally it's actions lead to more thyroxine being produced, thyroxine then acts on the pituratry to stop it producing more TSH. However if the thyroid gland isn't working then when TSH is produced, the thryroid doesn't respond, so thyroxine levels remain low, this means that more TSH is produced, leading to very high levels of TSH.
Does that make sense ? I hope so..
