That was fun, jwf. I particularly liked the story of the squirrel and the chamaeleon.

Today is the 540th anniversary of the birth of Nikolaj Kopernik, aka Nicolaus Copernicus. There's no interaction with the doodle, but you can watch the planets orbiting the second 'O'.

Ah, and the Moon orbits Earth. Nice orrery.
BTW, I've never heard my mother say the word, 'orrery'. I don't think I ever will. She can't say the name 'Rory' so I'm sure 'orrery' would be right out.

Oh, wait. It's "Roy" she can't say... it comes out 'Rory'... Orrery might be doable, or it might cause her to get caught in loop. Ohrorororororororororororororor..... Like an engine dieseling.

Feb 22nd appears to be Edward Gorey's birthday.
The doodle doesn't do much that I can see.
And tends toward his warmer fuzzier style.
But for those who either don't know Gorey or who do,
here is a link to Utoobs where you can find more of
his strange pre-hootoovian vision of the whirled.

Feb 22nd is Thinking Day - Lord and Lady Baden-Powell's birthdays. Does anyone celebrate that any more?

I'm quite pleased that someone mentioned Edward Gorey, even if it means I was beaten to it. I've been enjoying his work in various formats for many years. Today's Doodle made me very happy. Thanks for the YouTube link, too.

German and Austrian Google (no idea which others) show a picture of the philosopher Arthur Schopenhauer having a walk with his poodle. It's obviously his 225th birthday.

I love Ogdred Weary. I've got two of his "Amphigorey" books. That doodle is definitely warm and fuzzy.

So many iconic HHGG elements animated on such a little screen.
I loved the Vogon poetry effect on the potted plant.
Happy Birthday DNA!
