My word! - have you seen the new Google Doodle, what?
anhaga Posted Feb 6, 2013
I can get the .com page, ~jwf~. It just doesn't have the doodle that's on all the other national pages. And so far, only one person seems to be able to find the doodle on .com

Well, I think I'm the only one of us so far who's tried from inside the US.

anhaga Posted Feb 6, 2013
True.
But it's funny: I've been searching news stories about the doodle and it basically isn't being mentioned in US sources, while it's in the news everywhere else.

The more I look at that doodle, trying to make out
the letters, the more I have to think the double O
is represented by her breasts.
Maybe it's being censored by the US site so that
outsiders won't think Americans are sexist.

Or her glasses.
I can get it in the UK on .com

I thought the first 'O' was implied by the rock next to the 'G' and the second by the dog's raised foreleg. Maybe I'm not imaginative or perverted enough
Yes I get it on .com, and I am in the US.

You're just too nice.
To be a google doodler requires cunning and skill.
Seriously, rule a straight line across the image.
The two dogs form the lower case 'g' and the
glasses are way too high up above the top dog.

Two hours later, one the East Coast of Canada,
I still haven't seen a doodle on .com
Must be smokin' mirrors.

It gets weirderer and weirderer.
This morning my bookmark took me to .com
instead of .ca but it was in French!
No doubt all my fitzing about yesterday
trying find the US server from the Eng/Fr
.ca base confused the Chrome browser.
I had meant today to try finding .com
via another, non-Google browser, like
Firefox or IE. I suspect it really is the
Google Chrome acting in cahoots with the
Google homepage that is blocking me. It
assumes my need is just the search bar
and that's all it gives me with the closest
mirrored server.
But now I'll have to wait for the next national
based google because the Leakey doodle is
gone. Nice glasses and all.

I'm off to see what you can do with it.

If you find anything other than the big red button, let us know.
(Many men apparently have trouble finding the big red button, or so some say.)

Here is a Utooby that shows a lot more of the possible combos.

I found an article saying that you click on the and the wheels spin. Which they do. Then, like a fruit machine, they stop, and a picture of a different animal pops up in each wheel. (there are 2)
And they do.
Then the article says that a series of pictures, telling a little love story about the two animals will pop up. I only got one picture in each case, but rather a cute idea, all the same.

That's all I found. I cycled through it and it repeated after about 8-10 cards.

Yeah, the google page itself gives about four combos
and then goes into a rest mode. I suspect it's getting
a lot of traffic.
But the Utoob link I gave above shows closer to a dozen,
with everything from the very cute to the very cynical.
