Over the Christmas period I have seen:
"Blades of Glory" - one of those films I expected to be a bit rubbish and that is, in fact, really good. Not only very funny but with good performances and well-drawn (if caricatured) characters.
"The 40-Year-Old Virgin" - admittedly I missed the first 40 minutes or so because I was wrapping presents. What I did see was a funny, likeable comedy and not the middle-aged version of "Porky's" I was expecting. For me, the standout sequence was when the nice-guy title character has to pretend he's a pushy, sassy mysogynist to get his friend out of trouble.
"The Count of Monte Cristo" - again, I missed some of this (I started watching at the point the title character is imprisoned and meets Richard Harris) but what I saw was a good-but-not-great period drama. Like a lot of book adaptations, it felt that events were moving a little too quickly. However, the performances were above-par, especially Guy Pierce doing a very good evil toff.

out product placement in films I seem to remember there being a lot of noise at various times about product placement in films.
I hadnt seen any bond films in years and having watched a number of them on new years day, dont know how many as thye blended into each other after the first film. This was either because of my mental state or because of the plots being similar possibly both.
Anyway having not seen one since being a child one over riding thought gripped me..."boy this film needs a condom maker to sponsor it"
Never mind dodging bullets and leaping over canyons onjet skis the biggest risk in this guys life has got to be catching AIDS.

Perfectly sent up in the original Austin Powers:
"Just as long as people are still having promiscuous sex with many anonymous partners without protection while at the same experimenting with mind-expanding drugs in a consequence free enivronment, I'll be sound as a pound, 'luv."
Am itching to watch Hellboy tonight, I think I shall.

Don't know if it really counts as a film but I watched Battlestar Gallactica Razor last night.

One of the DVD commentaries is a couple of real life coppers reminiscing and wondering if anyone's still listening. It's rather quaint!

I think someone mentioned it a couple of dots back... I saw "V for Vendetta" last night.
Not nearly as bad as had been led to beleive. Shame on you wossy, that film was average not awful.
Still Alan Moore films are a bit wubbish.... not really looking forward to the Watchmen film I have to say.

I was underwhelmed with V for Vendetta when I first saw it, but in it's defence it is a film that has since grown on my quiet a bit. I'd rate in 4/5 now.

Disappointing film experiences recently...
TV Saturday night: Phone Booth: As bad as it was originally. Mission Impossible: If anything, this has got worse.
Sunday: Meant to go and see Lust:Caution, but wasn't feeling well enought to leave house...oh well, next weekend.
Tonight I'm going to watch My Life As A Dog on DVD.

Deja Vu. It was very good. Seen Beowolf, dont bother. And finally watched last half of Spiderman 3, the second half of this film was much better, than the first half.

Family Man - really enjoyed it. I like both leads though so that probably helped. (Nic Cage and Tea Leoni)

I watched Saw IV last night. They appear to have found their mojo again: it's wonderfully unpleasant. Really nasty. Blood, guts and limbs ripped-asunder all over the shop.
Smashing.
