How/Why did you choose your nickname?
Tashalls, Muse of Flights of Fancy (Losing Weight at A858170) Posted Jan 4, 2003
Like most nicknames, I didn't choose mine, it was bestowed on me by a uni friend. My real name is Natasha, most people call me Tash, but she started calling me Tashalls. I kind of like it, and it stuck!

for the random outburst!!!
Go about your business...

Actually, that is more annoying, because it reminds me I unconsciously chose a username with the similar three starting letters as my own name!

I totally agree with you SaturNINE, I hate being called Nat. Once I was not assertive enough when starting work at my previous job, and said "Oh, anything will do", so Nat stuck, unfortunately. But the name is like fingernails down a blackboard to me!

Well, a little (only a little) imagination...more RL, really. I'd done a google (or was it teoma? - http://www.teoma.com ) word search for curries, & the results included "the world's besdt curry houses" section of h2g2. And, I had, that past spring seen/heard some excellent fusion jazz, featuring an east indian guitarist acclaimed for his incorporation of traditional indian chord progressions, etc, into contemporary jazz. So, 'ya got yer jazz...ya got yer curry...'nuff said?'

Well, I'm hardly better than that - name comes from my first two initials. It's actually one of my most common nicknames in real life since there are so many people named "Jon" or "John" (as some people insist on spelling it ) abound.
- JD

Blatherskite the Mugwump - Bandwidth Bandit Posted Jan 4, 2003
Both words in my name are completely American, so there's no doubts in anyone's minds about where I come from. It's my way of thumbing my nose at some of the racist fools I've encountered here. Also, both words are archaic slang, so they appeal to my historic interests.
A blatherskite is a loudmouthed braggart. I chose it to poke fun at myself, and perhaps to remind myself that the things that happen on this site aren't important in the grand scheme of my life... its a perspective check.
A mugwump is someone who "keeps his mug on one side of the fence and his wump on the other." It used to be a derogatory term for a politician who couldn't make up his mind. It seems like a tautology for me, because I'm a rather decisive and opinionated person. It's meaning to me is to serve as a reminder to stay out of people's personal politics on this site.

Kristina the Flamenco Dancer - PS of Duende, Muse Posted Jan 4, 2003
Bebel - the method for working out Star War names seems to work best with British/American names.... I ended up with Rayl Kriesk
Kristina is my RL first name, and the Flamenco Dancer is because that's my all-overwhelming hobby - and originally it was meant as a kind of warning, since I created this researcher ID to let off some steam when I was really upset and people could expect some flames
and thunder <?> if I turned up (it's my second ID)
