Ive personally noticed that my usual kitten turns hyperb*tch, during certain states; during nightfall in the winter, if I've kept myself in the house and not moving for too long, if I've een lazy about getting myself dressed and ready for the day (and thus feel fu-ugly),if I don't drink enough water, and if my surroundings are cluttered (being a messy person, you can guess how often I'm in a bad mood :P). Also if I'm in a relationship in which I feel that the side of myself that I don't like is being nurtured, but that's a thesis topic I won't get into.

*grins* I haven't had to put up with Mrs SM's PMS for nearly nine months now.

I have had to put up with:
Lots of back rubbing - me rubbing her's
Very well shaped and VERY well proportioned breasts (her's not mine!) that I can't touch for fear of her screaming in pain or leaking on me.
No rough and tumble.
Lot's of other things that I wont go into.

Yeah, isn't that a b*tch? The one time in my life I have gorgeous, big bosoms, and they're overshadowed by my tummy *sigh*. It was interesting though, in how alive they seemed and how they seemed to work off some myseterious agenda I had nothing to do with. It was almost as though for a few months I had a c*ck.

By the way, one important thing to remember about humans when making comments like "no other animal has permanently swollen breasts" is that no other animal has as long an infancy as we do, nor does any other animal have such a non-seasonal sexuality -- appropriate that we should be talking about PMS, since that is the only fertility cycle humans have, and there is no mating season. Lactating lasts a lot longer in humans than in other animals, and permanent breasts are probably justified.

Also evolution is one-way. There is no evolutionary pressure towards small breasts, so more "highly-evolved" men will not like breasts less, nor will they gradually disappear ...

Andrew, I think you will find that you are not correct in the statement about the long pregnancy. Elephants have a longer pregnancy, by a few months, if I remember corectly. But that is a moot point.

Once again, we've heard the "chest-bottom" theory first presented by Peet way back in the early stages of the thread. I agree with Andrew that the breasts of human females will probably not 'evolve' to be smaller and smaller as time goes by, nor will the male fascination by them diminish.

Well at least that's honest.

FABT I totally agree, no two bras with the same label size are actually the same size...although neither are jeans

I didn't say long pregnancy -- elephant gestation is 2 years and I believe whale gestation is even longer. However, I said long infancy. I could be wrong about this, too, however. I'm pretty certain it's true that human children, per lifespan, take longer to mature to even approximate adulthood than any other species, and require more care for longer (although I'm happy to be contradicted if someone has an example).

In any case, humans can still spend a continuous period of several years nursing young, and in any case I still find the breasts as bum theory spurious in the extreme.

I apologise for my mistake, and after re-reading the post, I can see that you were talking about infancy, and not pregnancy. I think you're correct on the infancy thing too. And another thing that may or may not be interesting to know is that the mother of a child can keep the production of milk up for years with the right kind of stimulation. There are cases where the children have breast fed into their third year...

Monday, that's what it is.. Never a good day. And of course, it didn't really help that I didn't sleep very much last night. And the meeting where I was going to do a report never happened, which meant that the work I did for that was just wasted.... You know.. Typical Monday..

I don't mind Mondays, it's Wednesdays I don't like...but that because that's how my timetable dicatates.
