Gnomon - time to move on Posted Jan 29, 2002
I'm sure really famous people haven't the time to devote to something like h2g2.

Apparently Richard Dawkins was a good friend of DNA. And I imagine this is the kind of place he would like. But I don't think you'd get any of the famous people to reveal themselves though.

What, playing devil's advocate? But I do wonder what is has been like. I'd find it strange if a biologists mentioned his very good friend Mr DNA.

It makes sense for there to be a couple of famous people here, simply because this is such a cross-section of society. We get people from all walks of life, so why not a TV presenter, or actor, or singer, or even scientist.
The only problem is that they would never reveal themselves, for fear of being swamped and having to leave. Perhaps Theory is really Fred Durst, or Dancer is Ariel Sharon, or girl called Ben is, in fact, not called Ben, but Prunella Scales. Maybe I am Bill Gates . And even if the famous people are really too busy with RL, we can always imagine that h2g2 is packed with celebs.

Perhaps you could try and entice all the famous people out of the woodwork by pretending we were holding an awards ceremony or something
Yes - I can see it all now, we could lead them out like the Pied Piper and then we could harass them all until they have to change their pseudonyms or even worse, to leave the Community

I know what I would call fame, S-M Gellar. The problem with the net is that you have no idea if someone is taking the piss using a name like that. Care to enlighten us?
