The Scriptwriter and Aunt Julia by Mario Vargas Llosa...
I've just finished it and it is one of the most compelling books I have read in a long time.

'Otherland Volume One: City of Golden Shadow' for the second time. Not as good as those that come after it, but still very compelling.

Yes, 'Down Under' is the most hilarious, scream out loud book I've read all year! 'Thief of Time' (Terry Pratchett) is equal to it.
Personally, for me: 'Mind's Sky' by Timothy Ferris and the 3rd Alanna book, 'Woman Who Rides Like a Man'(I think). (With all the caveats I mentioned before...)
