"The Code of the Woosters" by P.G. Wodehouse. This is the first of Wodehouse's books I've ever read, and I'm allready laughing my socks off

I finished King Rat and it was brilliant. (Hope you are enjoying it Metal Chicken.)
I have now moved on to a James Herbert novella - Haunted. I must say I thought I had given up reading James Herbert but it appears not. He seems to have dropped the full on gore in favour of more subtle chills.

Just finished King Rat too Thoroughly enjoyed it, great mix of myth, music and urban reality. Can't wait for his latest ("The Scar") to come out in paperback but that'll probably not be till next year sometime.
Rereading Dirk Gently's Holistic Detective Agency now. Felt the need for something familiar and light hearted.

Will have finished the Anita Blake books by the end of tomorrow night
A well known high street bookstore that has a black and gold livery has a special offer on at the moment... You can get the box set of the hitchhikers novels in pb as well as a bunch of other things, all at 2 for £20... They have Salmon of Doubt as well, so you could do a bit of collection completetion

Finished the James Herbert last night and was thoroughly disappointed in it. Perhaps horror is different when you are old but i felt the plot was badly constructed and the whole thing felt rushed.
So I am dipping in and out of Mrs Dalloway until I pick up Perdido Street Station which is China Mieville's second book. It is quite chunky so that should keep me going for a while.

Iread Dune when I was 15 I'm now in my 40s I loved it then and I guess it's time to re-read it now Thanks for putting it back on my mind's shelf. At present, I'm re-reading Cry the Beloved Country by Alan Paton. Brilliant! I also recently re-read On the Beach- Nevil ShuteItt seemed poignant, given today's political climate.

Have just finished Wodehouse's "Code of the Woosters" and have just started on "Dracula" by Bram Stoker An awkward leap, I agree, but I had promised myself I should read it sooner or later

Lake Wobegon Days by Garrison Keillor. It's supposed to be 'humorous', but I'm finding the humour a little obscure.
