Yes, Witty, Garius introduced me. He told me that he was planning on playing a big game on some website, I asked if I could join, and he said sure, and then told me all about this site. I like the HHGTTG trilogy anyway, so I joined early, just to get myself established
I'm glad I did.

Very well, thanks, B17. Is your sentence being carried out properly? Do you have a probation officer, or is Abi logging all your online time?
Very cool, Arl.

Hello folks. Glad to see everyone having a good time. Sorry to hear you can't play, Chris - this is the first thread I have checked today, so I'll see what you had to say in your invitation thread. I think holidays may be a bit of a problem. I, myself, am going on holidays next week! I had hoped to get this up and running earlier, but it takes a long time to get the character descriptions in. I think that we may have to postpone the start of this until I get back on Sunday, August 5th. (I hope to get all of the character descriptions in before I leave work tomorrow, so we should be set to go as soon as I get back). I think Affy may be on holiday next week too. I'll have to check, but perhaps Chris may be able to play if we are actually starting then. Anyone else have holidays coming up? Anyone have any ideas how to accomodate absences?
Witty - I know what character you will play, but I haven't had time to load up the character description. I'll try to do that today.
I think adding your character's names to your id is a good idea. I am also intending to put a "cast of characters" table on the main scenario page.

I probably can't post weekends.
I will be on holiday Aug 12-14
I will be moving back into my dorm room on the 18th or 19th of Aug and who knows what problems that will cause for my connection. (Moving my computer always seems to screw it up!)
I suggest that if a play knows he or she will be unable to post for a while, he or she should just figure out an explaination that fits with their character and the circumstances.

I don't anticipate any absences for myself. But if the situation comes up, I authorize Garius to control my character on my behalf. Since he's the only one who knows each character's motives and objectives, it makes sense to me. He can keep the action moving, if necessary.
What do you think, Garius?

The problem with that, as I see it, is that Garius actually does know /every/ character's motive and objectives. Even if he intended to controll your character with only her own motives in mind, he couldn't help being influenced by what he knows about everyone else.

Both Arl's and WM's suggestions make good sense to me. I won't be going anywhere anytime soon, but will be moving into our new house soon. Bound to take up some of my time, but I shouldn't have any problems logging on and checking in.
The 5th will be ok, although I will only be able to log on once or twice a day during the weekends.
I still am really looking forward to it though.

At this point, I honestly don't know what I'm going to be doing IRL over the next few weeks. The end of summer is always disturbingly hectic.
Oh, and so everyone knows, I intended to keep my identity a secret 'till we started (avoiding undo character slip-ups, and all that), but Arl figured it out. Second Mate Gillings.
can't wait for the 5th, then. So much time before the fun starts....

I'm sorry, Affy, I didn't know you wanted it to be secret. Garius told me that you and I were the first two notified about the game, and then when I got here, only Second Mate Gilling's character description had been posted.

So where do we get our costumes?

Gw7en, Voice of Chaos (Classic) Posted Jul 26, 2001
I'm sorry to hear that, Uncle Heavy. I was looking forward to getting to know you. GL has alluded to there being more later on, though. If you cannot be in this one, perhaps we'll see you again in another one.
Good question, Arl. I've got some late 19th century clothing that I've made. I'll see if I have enough...

As we're on a boat, I hope you have enought 19th Cen sailing outfits.

Well, I have plenty of clothes for the women. As far as the men are concerned, I have britches and shirts, but only one frock coat. No nautical jackets though, I fear. We'll have to rig something for them...

We'll need several changes, I should think. The high-seas can get wet.
