Amy the Ant - High Manzanilla of the Church of the Stuffed Olive Posted Jul 21, 2003
Simulpost Caer. It was an enjoyable documentary but I felt it was more about the cleverness of the poo-cam designers than about elephants.

Of course, I was terribly impressed by the poo-cams, evenly childishly
I didn't learn anything new about elephants though, but hte camera angles were fun, especially when the matriarch picked up the plopcam!
The documentary that stays with me, even though I can't remember the park, presenter or channel , was about a herd of elephants whose names all began with E, and there was a baby one called Ebony and I often wonder how he is doing.

I wonder if turd-cams will catch on... although I think it will be a while before they figure out how to hide cameras in ant droppings .
I'm definitiely going to town now. I delayed my trip to allow a thunder storm to pass through.

You had rain, Amy?
We had a just a few drops a couple of minutes ago when I was still outside - it was bright sunshine, and I looked up at the blue sky and wondered where the rain was coming from...
Off to Finland by to visit a spa-hotel with my mother, no internet access until Friday (as far as I know right know, haven't really seen internet cafés in Turku when we've been there before...
The spa hotel we're going to is
http://www.caribia.fi
I might skip the sauna though - but on the other hand, after a good sauna the outside air ought to feel considerably cooler... hmmmm...

No rain here. Just summer heat!
I have a district library directors meeting this morning. Gotta go make myself presentable.

Well and so Amy, I blame you: I appear to have inherited your builders. There is a man who I can only conclude is drilling right above me at this ver moment, and has been for, well, ages it seems like. I guess they are repairing the roof. Which I suppose I shall be very grateful for next winter, but

dElaphant (and Zeppo his dog (and Gummo, Zeppos dog)) - Left my apostrophes at the BBC Posted Jul 21, 2003
It's hootoo that doesn't support Unicode, Chris. You can send Unicode in, but it always comes out ASCII.
My vacation was wonderful. It was very relaxing, and mostly excellent weather. But I did miss Zeppo terribly, even more so when I got home and filled his water bowl out of habit only to realize that he isn't here

Just had a big downpour here. I was sat on a bus thankfully on my way back from doing a little bit of shopping. As the bus went along part of the route looking up the valley you could see the rain moving along at quite a rapid rate. No thunderstorms here so far (thankgoodness after what happened with the last one!)

FG Posted Jul 21, 2003
Well, I saw Pirates of the Caribbean last night and I have to say it was most enjoyable! Johnny Deep shamelessly (and rightfully so) steals every scene he is in and Geoffrey Rush makes a superb villain. One wonders why he didn't try it sooner...
I thought the knotted hankies thing was a Monty Python-poke-at-ourselves too!

I think it's very cute that d'E still thinks of Zeppo as a puppy. I suspect Zeppo doesn't see himself that way though .
There is no one digging holes outside The Nest today so the theory that they've all gone to Russia seems a good one to me .
It rained again while I was out - so I treated myself to lunch in a proper restaurant.
I bought myself a pair of jeans too - sans elasticated waist .
