Hey, everyone! I just saw Col. Sellers! It's been a while. BTW, why'd he stop coming to the Atelier, again?

I believe Col. Sellers has undertaken never to be in the same conversation as me.

Greetings from what's left of Bradford, Amy!
Well, that's the end of the - I suppose I should get changed...

Hi Ormy
I've been away for the weekend and hadn't seen the news. By coincidence I have just this second been trying to catch up with the Bradford situation on the bbc news website. It's a complicated situation, isn't it? It looks to me as if the violence was not too close to your neck of the Bradford woods though. Am I right? I hope so.

Well, the main battle was about half a mile up the road from me. But the mob passed by where I live, and a lot of the shops in adjoining blocks had their windows smashed. My flat was OK, though, since it's on the first floor of a building with no ground-floor windows.

Hmm. Too close for comfort.
Do you think the violence will continue through the summer?

I hope I'm not tempting fate, but I think probably not. The police are ready for it now - there were huge numbers of them around the city centre last night. There were a couple of incidents, with an Indian restaurant having its window smashed and a pub that I've been in a few times getting firebombed, but the cops dealt with them both very quickly.

*hasn't heard any news to speak of in nearly a fortnight*
Packers are here. Have you ever heard the sound of a sofa being wrapped in cling film? An amazing interminable and very loud ripping. They are now in the kitchen. I salvaged a tea mug out of the workshop and am enjoying my final cuppa here. I would drink more if I could but there's nothing left to boil water in. I refuse to microwave water; tea tastes awful made that way cos the water doesn't boil properly.
I have also stashed 300 tea bags in a parcel I'm sending to a friend out in New Mexico. I have looked the last two times I was there and you can't get my fave brand of tea there.
Hi Amy. I bet you can't wait for the peeling to begin. And that is indeed at last the very smiley for us! As soon as I have somewhere to live in for longer than a week I shall inspect the new collection. I alsowant to look into getting the atelier's sign blobbed....

Hi Lil
I've just been reading your journal. It is very moving. It had me laughing and crying - although not usually at the same time. The photos are incredible.
I've been talking to Peta about blobbing graphics but she's still too busy and will remain so until Chris is properly inducted to cover Anna's maternity leave. Leave it with me - as soon as we've worked something out I'll tidy up all the signs and logos, make white and goo versions and send them off with correctly formatted names. I can download yours from your website unless they're bookmarked, in which case you had better email the originals to me.
I'll email the blob numbers to you as soon as I have them.
The sunburn isn't that bad. I just caught the sun on the bridge of my nose. I don't think it will peel and it doesn't hurt. It just looks funny. I didn't reveal the rest of me to the elements but I should have put sunblock on my face before setting off to walk from Sennen Cove to Land's End.
Just before that I went to the Submarine Telegraphy Museum at Porthcurno as recommended by someone here at the Atelier (Bald Bloke?). It was wonderful. One of the best little museums I have ever been to. When I post this, I will imagine the signals going down the cables hidden under Porthcurno beach on their way to those of you across The Pond.
I'm exhausted today. I drove from Hayle in Cornwall to Leeds in one go last night. 387 miles, for the record.

Lot's o backlog. Sounds like the meet went well.
Welcome back, Lil, even if only for a short time. I'll look into your journal sometime soon.
Someone mentioned a pedal organ earlier and seemed to imply that he/she didn't want it. I'm a songwritter and I'm always on the lookout for an organ donor. Is it for sale? Where is it located (as in what country)?

Lil
If you want the atelier sign blobbed one crafty way would be to write something for the post, which happens to need the atelier sign.
I suggest a quiet word with Shazz

Morning all!
Well, I have to admit that I didn't make it all the way through the backlog. For all the talk about it being slow, there are about 7 LEDs for me to wade through.
Lil! I'm glad to see you back. I'll go check out your pages again shortly to see what all the talk of the turtles is about.
Unfortunately, I've got tons of e-mails and paperwork to get caught up on, so I'm off to do that now.

Blobbed? Wassat then?
Ormy, will keep my fingers crossed for no more trouble in your vicinity. I'm allergic to violence myself - it brings me out in cuts and bruises...
Good luck, Lil. and may I say, uplifting though it sounds, I hope never to experience wrapping a sofa in clingfilm. Although I have wrapped a chicken in foil. I realise that's not quite the same thing though

Oh yes, Aetecchino - it's not a pedal organ, it's an electronic one that has bass pedals. A Farfisa VIP 400, aimed at rock musicians in the 70's (I think Robbie Robertson played one with The Band...or was Levon Helms their keyboard player...help, one old hippie cried to the others out there )
Located here in my loft in Edinburgh, Scotland, so possibly not the handiest location for you, as I recall. Still, if you want to start a side thread, I'll tell you all about it, but mostly from memory - I'm not going up there to scrape the layers of dust off it...

Ah, the joys of work... My boss canned a guy from my team last week, and today held a meeting to discuss the issue. This is the first time that I have ever heard officially why someone got fired. Interesting if a little morbid.

That is a touch morbid... And not at all something that I would have expected. Odd.
Oh, Marv, sorry to hear about the doctor's news. Quitting smoking can be a good thing though. My grandfather did it by just drinking a glass of water when he had a craving. He hated drinking plain water enough that the cravings soon disappeared.
So, I'm sure that there are many posts here about the Meet. Have any links to pictures been posted at The Other Place yet?

Good day to you all!
Lil, take Bald Bloke's advice about blobbing - it's how I got my Ask Prof logo up there, though I will admit that I can only use it in the Post.
Spiny, blobbing is basically the process whereby images are uploaded onto the h2g2 server and assigned a Blob number. It's not a very fast process, and so only things like images for the Post are given priority. I hope it'll be readily available to all though, soon.

Hi Prof! Ask Prof seems to be going quite well. Its one of the things that I truly look forward reading in the Post each week now. How goes the remodel?
