No, not bad at all, sounds quite enjoyable right now...*sweat*
I bet this heat is just because all Swedes were wishing 'could we PLEASE have a REAL summer this year' because last summer consisted mainly of a LOT of raining and several floodings...
...and now that we've got what we wished for, we start wishing this summer wouldn't be quite so TROPICAL, but a nice SWEDISH summer - because temperature above +30 C - that's not really Swedish...

Hi there Phil - sorry, didn't see you at first... did you have a nice time?

Phil Posted Jul 8, 2001
I teveryone had a good time. I also think that there were a lot of researchers with hangovers this morning.
Bald blokes summary earlier is about right. Myself and some others (B17, Lost In Scotlandand Dr E. Vibenstein) went to a different pub after the experience (waxy o'conners) and sat down for a couple of drinks and talked comedy before going on to the main pub meet. Even though there was a sign on the door saying the pub was shut due to a private function there were still a lot of people who walked in!

Hey, what were all you Scots domiciles doing at the london meet? Hope you recruited some Cockney Sparrers to come to the Scottish one on the 21st. I mean, let's have some reciprocity here!
One solitary post tonight i think. After hedge-cutting and lawn-mowing in a temperature of 26C (that's v. high for Edinburgh), a shared bottle of wine, some trout marinaded with...lots of stuff (but definitely including lemon juice, oil, garlic and olives), and then a nice after-dinner whisky...
I'm beat

I am knackered. I am also at work, and as Phil pointed out earlier, we didn't get much kip last night. Suffice to say I have been awake since about 6/7 am and didn't manage to get any sleep on either the train back up or once getting back home. I'm jealous Phil, decidedly jealous. *sigh* only another 7 hours to go here, then a highly dodgy drive home (being so tired) and eventually will get to bed by 10am.
So another 27+ hour day. Still, I had fun
Being the first London meet I have managed to get to, it was wonderful to put so many faces to names. I had the added advantage of getting in a nights drinking with a few of the italics on Friday too.
Long chats wth Mark & Peta, and good chat with Abi yesterday, and Ashley is so funny.
But of course, nto forgetting the researchers. BB forgot to mention the pub quiz, probably due to our score One more point and we would have made it into the prizes. Ah well. Perhaps next time.
Nice to see you back Lil.

I am Panicking (resists the urge to shout). I have entirely forgotton how to write essays and have committed myself to churning one out every week for the next six weeks.
The first one is due Friday and I am Stuck. I spent most of Sunday staring at the computer screen, and now I am a wreck.
I never want to hear/think/read about the Lexical Way again....
Ah well. Meet sounds like it was fun (understatement understatement). Hope you were suitably devestated the rest of us weren't there...
It rained last night and is now a perfectly repectable 15 C. So at least that is ok...

Sol, you will be fine, I am sure.
Actually we toasted to 'Absent Friends' both nights.
So we were all thinking about those who couldn't be with us.

Absent Friends is a nice way of placing over 70,000 other researches in one conveinent package Actually I have done the same thing for formal (well not really formal, but as close as I am likely to become) toasts on the hollidays. At my last party I had everyone observe a moment of silence for our friend DNA.

Ok, I've read the backlog. Where to start?
Welcome back, Lil.
Could I have a please, Matina?
Look - a new smiley for Lil and myself .
Marv, sorry to hear about your health problems.
It sounds as if the London meet-up went well. I'll have to catch up with the news and the pictures later on.
I'll be back later to write more. I got sunburnt on my nose yesterday so I have to go and find a paper bag to wear over my head while I nip to the shops. I suspect I will be w*rking from home for a few days.
