Montana Redhead (now with letters) Posted Jul 9, 2001
As a mom, I see an awful lot of bad movies that pass for "children's entertainment" these days. Shrek was not one of those...I laughed so hard I just about choked. The balloon scene was a particular favorite. (No giving away too much, as Marv has yet to see it!)
Speaking of that, we went and saw Atlantis yesterday to beat the heat. Not bad, not good, weird animation/CGI stuff, and, frankly, the plot ripped off Stargate almost line for line. A good matinee.
But the big news was that I saw the trailer for Lord of the Rings. Oh my goodness gracious. Not for the young, I don't think. OOOH! I am so excited...cannot WAIT for December!

SPINY (aka Ship's Cook) Posted Jul 9, 2001
Thanks for the blob explanation, Prof. I might be able to get my bitmap of Spiny, which I drew with my own fair mouse and MS Paintbrush, back on my home page, then. It sounds similar to the image hosting they used to do before Auntie told us not to draw on the walls.
I'm not keen on blue for domestic use myself. In this part of the world it just makes you feel cold all the time. Wait a minute - that's how we feel anyway.
I'll re-assess blue.
I can caution against painting a ceiling pink. I'm sitting in just such a room now. We thought it would be a nice warm colour that would pick up shades in the wallpaper, but it just looks grubby. Wait a minute, that's how the occupants look...

Evening all. No thanks, Marv. Enough crap to deal with here just now.
Must get around to reading Lil's stuff soon.
So have you all seen the pics yet?

Asteroid Lil - Offstage Presence Posted Jul 10, 2001
I'm going to go see A.I. tomorrow night. Shrek will keep for home video, but A.I. looks to demand a big screen.

Hello all, sorry I haven't been here for a while.
Busy, busy, busy.
Apologies now, I haven't read any backlog, so if any kind soul can give me a quick rundown on what's been going on recently I'd appreciate it
I'd like a please if that's possible.
*sits down on sofa and relaxes*
Nice to be back.

Cogratulations, Doctor Munchkin.
Oh, by the way, I get this little twinge in my knee occasionally - it's nothing serious, but perhaps you could look at it for me?
(I think the NHS is wonderful...)

Congrats Doctor. Now you can really say, "Let me through, I'm a Doctor!"
Me and B17 went for a wander round the camden markets on saturday before the meet and saw a Dalek, just thought you'd like to know Muchkin (Yes we quickly ran down some stairs )

Hey, congrats Munchkin! Excellent stuff. Next stop, Professorhood.
MR, I've got both Lord of the Rings trailers on my computer at the mo. I /seriously/ can't wait till Christmas!
But I can't believe they're spacing the films out a year at a time!
Incidentally, I finally finished reading said story last night. Now I can start on my Jeeves & Wooster books.
*Heads off to look at meet photos, ready to point and laugh.*

Been and looked at the photos. Well peeved I couldn't go, considering how wet I got in Glasgow. Still, looks like you had fun, and I look forward to reading all about it in the Post.

Congrats, Doctor Munchers!
Morning all.
Red, I was unimpressed with Atlantis. It had its moments, sure, but I had a problem with Milo's voice. Don't get me wrong, I love Michael J Fox, but his voice didn't go with the character at all. I think that David Hyde Pierce (Niles from Fraiser) would have been infinitely better. But that's just my opinion. It was certainly not as bad as... say... the *last* Disney flick, Emperor's New Groove. And there was such potential there in the beginning...
Both LOTR and Harry Potter are on my list of must-sees in a theater. (That list is dwindling fast what with buying a home. Jurassic Park III is still on there though, bascially because I love dinosaurs. In this case, plot and storyline matter not at all to me, as long as I can see giant mammal/reptiles on the screen.
Lil, I'm interested to hear your opinion of AI. We saw it last weekend and, while I thought it was a very lovely fairy tale, the other two with me hated it with a passion I have not seen directed against films since Ishtar. I've noticed that this seems to be common amoung the film going community at large - you either love it or you hate it. One thing that both camps seem to agree on though is that Halley Joel did an incredible job - again. I expect great things from that young man in the future...
The photos are grand, B17. No need to . (Other than the fact that its a new smiley and kewl.
Matina, some please. Thank you.

Sounds like the weather we've been having the last couple of days, Prof. Lots of rain and high temps (35 C!) so its been horribly muggy. Here's hoping that the weather clears up by August.
