I recently managed to get hold of a book new to me: 'Mrs Pollifax unveiled' by Dorothy Gilman - and I just LOVE her books!

Good luck, Gw7en!
Marv, my problem is I want to (and will) enjoy the festival I'm going to, but I also want to enjoy the company of my h2g2 friends... simoultaneously!(sp?)

Doctah Munchkin! I like the very sound of it. Amy's a doctor too now, aren't you Amy?
My house is empty except for one bed and the last of my packing. It's been a brutal day. I even had a little fenderbender this afternoon. Exhausted, distracted me. Nobody hurt, the other lady has a little dent in her volvo, and I have a little dent in my Saturn. One more full day of errands and it will be over. I am knackered.
I'll start a new conversation tomorrow night.

No, Lil, I'm not a doctor yet. The viva earlier in the year was an intermediate stage. Lots of my friends have just become doctors, though.
Sorry to hear about your prang.
It's raining in Leeds too. Is it really raining all over the ?

Uh-oh... the Space Station's just informed me that the resonance particle emitters (which allow me to control weather on any given planet with an atmosphere like Earth's) have broken, and are destabalising the climate, shooting particles in random places. That's what's causing the clouds to burst. Sorry, all!
Lil, sorry to hear about your little crash. But yes, you're almost done!
*Goes off to read Jeeves & Wooster. Wahay! Classic comedy!! *

AAAAAH! I just figgured out the reason it's been raining everywhere! al Warming! Here's my theory: the ice caps are melting, causing more water into the oceans which would normally cause flooding EXCEPT that due to the increased heat in the earth's atmosphere not only is the water melting more in the cold regions, but the water in the hotter regions (around the equator, say) is evaporating faster, so the actual level of the oceans remains the same. But the water evaporating into the air needs to be dispersed. The increased heat and humidity cause increased wind, spreading the rain clouds far and wide, covering the whole , or at least very large parts of it.
A little far fetched, I know, but marginally less disturbing than my alternate theory, that some unknown force is seeking out participators in this thread and making it rain on them for some dark, unknown reason.

We are all rain gods of some description
