Sea, darling, just how long has that ice cream been in your freezer, anyway?

Mmm... I imagine so! *passes sea some cocoa biscotti*
Mine as well, Goddess! I especially like to throw in a bit of mint leaves - did you notice? *sips tea thoughtfully*

You make a mighty fine tea, Spork. Frankly, I've had none better. Well, except for that concoction at the Dalai Lama's, but i'm not sure that was tea, or even legal!
So, dearest, how was your day? Now that the last two midterms I will ever have to take are over, I am feeling much better. At least with a PhD, one doesn't have to take so many tests!
*chews on her lip thoughtfully*
more tea, please, dearie.

*refills both cups*
I think I've had the same tea, Red! I'd have to say that I am certain that it is both illegal, and I have a mind to say that it may quite possibly breach h2g2's TOA just by bringing it up *clears throat*
Other than a rather disturbing moment with a tractor trailer and a brick wall, I am quite fine. I would never go around touting having a PhD though... makes you look twice as foolish if people realise that you're still as foolish as ever, PhD or not
I think I am going to go out on the balcony, for a change. The guys downstairs have turned up the heat and it is a wonderful 65 degrees. I wonder if all that heat radiation will cause some sort of spectral effect in the sky? *goes over to cabinet, pulls out the portable bose and makes way out to balcony, waving to the Goddess*

*Affy is busy tinkering on something strange, that resembles a television*
Anyone think I should try to assimilate my Euphio Wave Machine into my Guantlet somehow? It's a very powerful weapon, possibly the most powerful of all weapons from the arsenal of Vonnegut, but I'm not sure if it would be morally correct to use it. What do you think?

Sporky, what are you thinking about when you have all these accidents? Not driving, surely.
*yawns* Been a long day. Gnight everyone.

Sporky, dearest, I don't have a PhD...I am still struggling with a masters. In historical theology. A throughly useless thing, I assure you! But quite fun, nonetheless. I hope you don't think less of me, being the academic that I am. Being a Goddess in the workaday world is so, well, difficult. One's aura tends to stand out!

There's nowt wrong with being an academic, he said defensively. Anyhoo, wouldn't be surprised if the spelling was pochle, there is a bit of a "ch" noise in the middle in some pronounciations (sp?). As to scaff, I haven't heard that one. Might be related to sclaff, which is to wildy miss hit, as in "You've well sclaffed that yin oot ra park"
Also, on one of your pochle examples "She got her books because she'd pochled the accounts" I'd have said, "She got handed her jotters." for getting fired. I think this is another west coast one, jotter being the notebook you wrote in at school. I've heard it on the nightly news, so it is still reasonably well thought of.

And on the subject of the patter, here be a useful introduction: http://www.bbc.co.uk/scotland/chewinthefat/neducation/index.shtml
Its a BBC site, so the link should stay.

Jotters! Forgot about that. Strangely enough, I still have a few blank jotters at home. I use them as, well, jotters for stuff like Lunix notes and HTML. So there you go.
