Has anyone scoofed?
Glasgow Patter: thievin' an' stealin'
scoof
A slang word meaning to steal, or take charge of something that seems to lack an obvious owner: "When Ah came back fae the lavvy some ratbag hud scoofed the Safeways bag Ah left under ma seat."
To scoof an empty house is to break into it and strip out everything of possible value, such as radiators, pipes, cables, etc: "These flats wi the boarded-up windies have aw been scoofed long since."
pochle
A pochle is any dishonest contest or business transaction: "Aye an yer Christmas Draw's nuthin but a pochle every year!"
To pochle something is to acquire it by means of a swindle or by cheating, or to be responsible for a fraud: "She got her books for pochlin her expenses."

Care to translate Haggis for me then? I am of Scottish decent and go to a Scottish church but I cannot understand the need to eat Haggis. I have tried it but not liked it.

It's just one of those things, Marv, like black pudding, you either like it or loath it. Me, I like it now and again. I just refuse to think about what's in it. So what Clan are you, or is your family decendant from?

Babel, I did a Google search on pochle and got a surprising number of hits.
My great-grandfather came from Bogside, Glasgow. He arrived in New Zealand in 1869. We belong to the MacLaren clan.

Affy, Loony, here's a toast to your mums! My grandmother just went thru that, and it was dreadful...gladd it's over. She laments the fact that she's left-handed, however, as they took the right one off, and she wants to take up archery
Well, I must say that getting one's masters' thesis approved is apparently celebrated by imbibing a great quantity of drinks...too bad I could not celebrate as well. Two tests today. But come the weekend, look out world, here comes the Goddess!
