Just catching up on housework, dear. There were some entries I never finished re-doing so that the titles would come back on my personal space-page.
I was on eBay a little while earlier, looking up what to do about a potential problem. Somebody who had the winning bid on an item I sold on Sunday has not responded to emails asking him or her to confirm the transaction. So as I was surfing about I noticed the text about SafeHarbor, their court of recourse for complaints about offensive or illegal items.
Every item page has a little link to SafeHarbor, but you don't have text all over the place saying "HEY, IF THIS OFFENDS YOU IN ANY WAY YOU CAN ALWAYS CLICK THIS BUTTON!"
Auntie Beeb is being very naive, really.

Only kidding. I was really "elsewhere" auctioning Peregrin to the highest bidder.
I think the wording should be changed and the disclaimer on our spaces in alabaster should be moved down... to where they've put the other disclaimer. They are keen on these thing, aren't they?

A most interesting auction, given some of the bids so far!
Me I've been kept busy at work with finally being able to get hold of a bunch of software tools and firmware upgrades.

Ah, it's come to auctioning the poor fellow off has it Amy?
Must catch up on that.
So Phil, having fun with the stuff then?

Auctioning a person? I've never done that before. The closest I've ever come is being the temporary owner of someone's soul. I never should've given that back to the poor guy. But he seemed so lonely without it, and I was getting a little worried about that little voice in my head. "What if you die while in possession of his soul? What if he dies while you're in possession of his soul? What if you both die at the same time?" I have too much free time on my hands.

Amy, who has won Peregrin? Or is he still up for grabs? I've never owned a political bird before...
Affy, why did you give in to your own line of questioning? After all, if he sold his soul to you and he died it wouldn't matter - the soul would still belong to you! (I'm reminded of a Simpsons episode where Bart sells his soul to Milhouse. Great fun!)
Matina, a cuppa please.
I have to admit that I am very excited. In the past year or two I've developed quite a jones for mystery novels. (I know, I know. It surprised me too when it happened.) And tonight I get to meet one of my favoite authors, Rita Mae Brown. I am having such problems staying focused on this whole w*rk thing. Maybe I should have taken the day off...

I've just heard that they've removed the bubblish (Hugo's bubble language) from the Terran Embassy page!
*adjusts goo beret and goes to investigate*

I thought that Abi was translating the Bubblish quotes? Very odd...

*The Professor teleports down......*
What ho!
You're auctioning the Prez?! My, my, who's next in the Cabinet? Well, obviously Bluebottle, but hey...
Selling souls? Hey, I remember that Simpsons episode (I hope The Big M's will let me keep that word). Great toon, that.
Did someone mention jotters? I have ton of them on my desk in RL right in front of me!
*Fondly remembers his first days on h2g2, when he kept jotting things down in some notebook. Wonders where that's got to, and why he used it.*
BTW, is it me, or is anyone else getting frustrated with that banner at the top? It has far too many frames, and keeps making my browser go all jerky when I type. I have to scroll the window to keep it out.

Yeah, Chris, when I refresh it flickers alarmingly before displaying the refreshed page.
Latest bid on Peregrin is as follows: "several items of food including chocolate in various guises, assorted currency amounting to not very much, one washer, one bicycle pump, three boxes of cookies of a North American disposition, some home-baked cookies, a pencil and a limp salad vegetable." and Abi was in the lead until that last bid, oh it's just been upped by a years supply of Cream Eggs, from Swiv.

I enjoyed the banner the first day we were back. I thought that it was cute and inventive. Now though I just want to scream when I see it.
Hmmmm... I may have to go make a bid myself. I wonder where a batch of Monsy's "special" Brownies will put me in the bidding.

Gw7en, it's a rising bid, looks like you have to be able to provide all bid before and whatever you up it by. I'd just sit back and watch if I were you

Ah-hah, cheers.
I've placed my bid (one that cannot be topped, I'm sure!), and am awaiting competition.

Er, chris, I would read my reply to your bid. You might want to withdraw it, as I assume you didn't read the reason for the Auction.
Just a friendly bit of advice.

Fear not B-17, for I have not set my emotional sights on the male of the species.
There are actually several people on the Space Station who'd like a bird partner, as I said in the other thread.
Key: Complain about this post
