Unless I'm greatly mistaken, "Professor" is not a name. I meant Professor Kramer.

[Saria, taking matters into her own hands, raises her arms and does a magic attack, called Hyper Light (a Light elemental attack), which makes Affy's pyrotechnics look like a candle in the wind and, in terms of attack power, it makes the Death Star look like a whoopie cushion.]

NAME: Hyper Light.
ELEMENT: Light
SHORT DESCRIPTION: A Light elemental attack.
Hyper Light is an extremely powerful Magic attack. It affects all possible targets in the battle arena and not much survives it.

[There is a flash of light accompanied by a crackling noise. Krill, the Dragon, and the Snapdragon slowly fade to red and to transparency, accompanied by a rumbling noise.]

[Victory fanfare.]

[Defeated KRILL!]
[Gained 100 exp!]
[Levelup for Link!]
[Levelup for Saria!]
[Levelup for Afgncaap5!]
[Levelup for Chris Tonks!]
[Got 20 Rupees!]

[Pretty much everyone stares, openmouthed, at Saria, who stands there looking embarrased]

Well, yes, I know Professor itself isn't a name, but people usually call me 'Professor', and it's part of my nickname...smiley - winkeye

*The probes all make an odd beeping noise, as they are forced to stop attacking Krill in physical terms...*
*The Professor spins round, and glares at Saria (yes, openmouthed), and walks over...*

My dear, no matter what that spell was *...as he says this, he fiddles around with his watch, putting up as many anti-magic defenses as he can...*, I'm am quite sure that, knowing Affy's enemies, he is bound to return.
Most likely any moment now in fact, so I think I'll make myself a quick cup of tea in the corner over there (where there's a nice rock to sit on), and wait for him to come back...

*Indeed, the Professor does go over to the rock, sits down, and materialises himself some tea...*

Anyone else want some?

C smiley - chick returns to where she was in the magic woods, this time carrying a bookbag with useful supplies. Her probe reorients to her. She reads the sign for Lil; unfortunately, Link didn't leave her a scroll. She assumes that since Prof CT is monitoring the probes, she can get his attention by facing the probe and talking to it. She looks at the probe and speaks:

"Hi everybody! I decided to take a break. I'm back now--perhaps not as frequently as I used to be, but at least every other day for the moment.

I like fantasy too. However, I didn't have the same toys you guys did when I was growing up, so I never learned how to play any of these games. I had a quite different fantasy life. I assume if you are here you like reading fantasy too.

Who do you want me to be today? I prefer to be Moreta from Pern, Aerin from Damar, Galadriel from Middle-Earth, or Ivy, Iris, or Irene from Xanth and bring Arnolde with me. I can also do other characters from any of those worlds (I'm not familiar with the more obscure tales of Middle-Earth, however), and I can do Narnia, H2G, Star Wars, X-Files, or Star Trek; I prefer females but will be male if I must.

Professor, can you create one of those Breaches you came through for me once we finish the character selection process? I'd like to join you in your cup of tea.

Happy New Year, everyone!"

Curator Chick invited me along too. If it is alright with everyone, I'd like to play. I'd like to be a lost Entwife.

You can't be an Entwife, M-Rae. We're playing as ourselves.

And I, YK, am not in this forum. Link, one of my characters, is. So is Saria. Actually, neither of them are /my/ characters per se, but I'm controlling them on the H2G2. Fair nuff?

Besides, why CAN'T we have this sort of plot twist?

I have to be myself, then? ok. I just thought a lost entwife would tie in with the Majik Forest. Don't mind being me.

Okay, so here's a rundown of the plot:

Link went into the forest ("with Navi" goes without saying) and almost got eaten by a man-eating plant. Next, a bizzare-looking creature named Sagittarius (he has the upper-half of an ape, goat legs, and an elephant's trunk) appeared and said that a Professor Kramer was going to put up some Anti-Magic fields, which would be bad for the forest. Then Saria appeared, having been transported here from the planet Hylia by an eddy in the space-time continuum, and Affy took us to a Time Tunnel leading to Zork to defeat Krill, who's bad for the entire H2G2.

Meanwhile, Lil has gone off with Violets the oversized Venus flytrap and gone on a boat. I don't know what they're doing, but as soon as something happens I'll let you go.

Link, Affy, Saria, and Prof. Chris Tonks are facing Krill. Saria just used an ability that, in terms of power, makes an anti-air missile look like a toothpick.

*The Professor, sitting down on his little rock, sipping a cup of tea, is interupted from his relaxing session by one of his probes...*

Very well, play it...

*And the probe does. Naturally, everyone has already read it, but hey...*
*The Professor gets up...*

Another Dimensional Breach, eh? Alright, I'll see if I can rig something up...smiley - smiley

*He presently gets in contact with the Computer on the Space Station (as he still hasn't got the DMbP installed in his Watch), and has it form a Breach from the Forest to the Space Between Dimensions, to Krill's Ops Room, where Tonks is enjoying his drink. The portal opens right in front of CC, and stays open until she enters...*
*The Professor then puts the kettle on again...*

Krill is his name. He's a warlock; he's wearing a black cloak that obscures all but his glowng yellow eyes. At least, I assume they're glowing.

*Affy is searching the room carefully. He's muttering under his breath*

Man, I wish you hadn't gotten rid of Krill like that. Who knows how long it'll take me to catch up with him now. I've learned by now that he doesn't exactly have an expiration date. He's been imprisoned, banished to Oblivion, killed, maimed, and he comes back. If you ask me, he's figured out a few of the secrets of physical immortality. Nothing an Implementor couldn't take care of, of course, but he's definitely not going to be finished off *that* easily...no offense, Saria.

In any event, I was trying to get to him and find out about this.

*He pulls the receipt that he found in the treasure chamber out of his pocket*

All of that treasure came from h2g2. The signature of the giver of all that treasure reads "Qui'Rarn Do'Tch." I've got a feeling I know who this is, but it would've been so much simpler to just ask Krill. Meanwhile...

*The room shakes. Affy pauses and turns to see what might've caused the rumbling. He notices a little sign that reads "Attri"*

Okay, I'm *sure* that Krill's still quite alive and well. You probably startled him, Saria, and that might've saved our lives, but we need out of this chamber. Fast.

Kathy steps through the portal rather nervously and follows the others out of the collapsing building.

CT . . . would you ask the computer to keep the portal open for Mari-Rae?

The only reason I want to play as someone other than myself is that I'm just a normal person on H2G2, pretty close to the person I am IRL, and I think Mari-rae is too from the sounds of her homepage. Therefore, we as Mundanes don't have any magical or fighting abilities to contribute to the group, if we act as ourselves. The rest of you are either fantasy characters of your own creation or fantasy characters from extant worlds, so you have special powers. At least this behavior follows the rules of continuity and doesn't involve random telephone booths or anything else! I don't think there's any rule in this thread that says we're playing as ourselves, either--especially since CT is playing as the professor and not the teenage Christopher, Zeppo is playing as a dog with antlers, and YK is playing as Link and Saria.

I am playing Princess Ivy just before she met Grey Murphy (her future husband).

Ivy's magical talent is a subtle one, that of Enhancement--whatever she believes someone is, that quality becomes stronger. For instance, if she thinks we can get out of a situation using X capability, x becomes stronger. It's not really a talent I can use consciously, though--belief has to be unconscious. This is, most of the time, really subtle--if I believe you are intelligent, or heroic, you automatically live up to my expectations.

For more on Ivy, see: http://www.geocities.com/Area51/Shire/5014/ivy.html
http://www.geocities.com/electra1825/

I'm not sure whether my magic works in this world. Typically in Mundania, you need someone with the talent of providing an area in which magic works, but since magic from Hyrule works, I think magic from Xanth might. Does anyone know the rules on that?

Ivy believes that we can bring Saria out if we don't look back until we get out of the building, like in mythology.

I needed to speak to the probe so that you would know what I was saying. By basic rules of physics, you can't hear me or Lil when you aren't even in the same reality we are. That's why we have the probes, isn't it?

This is quite true, yes. The probes maintain a link through the Space Between Dimensions (currently a place where only Pr. C. Tonks out of the other h2g2 members can get to), and can transmit signals through each dimension, and each type of dimension.

*The Professor looks up as Princess Ivy (formerly having tea with him as CC) leaves the room after the others...*

Oh my. Time to leave I expect. Oh well...

{Beep. Sir, I have recieved a request that we keep the Breach open until a certain entity is through.}

Yes, but if that person comes through after this place has collapsed, they'll be crushed, telefragged as it were.
No, hang on...if I can muster up all the energy my forces have in this reality, a can create a anti-magic-and-everything-else barrier leading from the Breach to the Time Tunnel I presume the others have left through. As long as the rather late person doesn't veer from that shield, no harm will come to them, and they can rejoin the group.

{Sir, I suggest we leave...}

Oh yes, of course...

*The Profesor promptly puts away his tea set, opens his own Dimensional Breach, and reappears in front of Affy, Link, and Ivy, completely forgetting about poor Saria...*

Probably. BTW, thanks for being so continuity concious. smiley - smiley

*Affy is looking around the room, thinking*

What's causing this earthquake. If only...a machine. There's probably some massive machine. I mean, before this, he set up an Infernal Machine who's purpose was mainly to release excess magical energy in the form of several pointless machines, such as insanely large hammers hitting the ground and spears flying from walls, etc. If he's got a room like that around here, I'd be willing to bet that's where Krill is.

*Turns to Link*

You go save Saria. I'll see if I can get to the machine.

*Affy runs in the direction of the Observation Room, but stops when three of the strongest monsters in Zork step in to block his way: a hellhound, a snow wight, and a cruel puppet. Affy's sword begins glowing a brilliant blue again*

Man, this is just like old times. Glad to be back on Zork.

*The hellhound snaps, the snow wight slashes, and the cruel puppet begins making several condescending jokes, all of which Affy somehow avoids. He returns with a dangerous blow to the snow wight*

By the way CC, unless otherwise stated, I am always Pr. C. Tonks (aka the Professor) throughout h2g2.
The reason you think I usually play the part of myself (Chris Tonks, a perfectly normal 15 year old boy, looking forward to his GCSE's), is because I was acting as my RL self, as my VR self (Pr. C. Tonks) was away on an adventure.

Now, the concepts of RL and VR are quite straightforward.
RL is Real Life (sometimes referred to as IRL - in real life), and in that, everyone is themself.
VR is Virtual Reality, and in it I am Pr. C. Tonks, whoever controls Affy is Affy, however controls d'Elaphant is d'Elaphant and Zeppo, and whoever controls YK is YK.
In this thread, YK is the special case, as he (in VR) is going into a sort of VVR by being Link and Saria.
In the Atelier, we are usually our RL selves, except myself, for I'm always Pr. C. Tonks.
In your case, CC, you have not yet invented a VR persona (apart from your curious name smiley - winkeye), and so usually look at things from an Rl point of view.

Don't worry - we're all nuts! smiley - winkeye
