The appeal of brunel is simply utility... there's more handy things in it. I personally prefer the look of goo but not the slowness and lack of handythingies.

I like Goo.

I'm with Milla, Alabaster is just so clean and easy to read!
And the answer is: Yes, all converstions do drift. I challenge anyone to find one over 3 pages long which hasn't drifted.
More practice:

We've been consistantly blaming 2legs through nearly a thousand posts.
It's all 2legs fault.

Fair enough, I guess that's a good example. Very quick too, Count Zero!
Seriously, why are you blaming 2legs for everything?

"what is frames mode"
(and then "Why did frames mode suddenly go funny, the page appear all odd and I was told "Welcome back" - no in fact not a newbie quesion, as that's just what happened, but I guess I've seen enough Alibastair Quakes to Not to Panic about it)

"Why are we blaming 2legs?"... I dunno.. Tony Curtis had something to do with it. Now that we've started we can't stop. Neither can 2legs.

Well smileys are fairly easy, and I'm sure that I probably know at least half of them by now.
"Why is there so many smileys?"

Tch! Alabaster! Why would I want to have more than half my screen taken up with my user space? I know what I wrote about me - I dont need to keep looking at it all the time!
And the handy Brunel smorgasboard of smileys (smilies?)is very tasty!

Tried all the skins out before deciding that I like Alabaster the most - it's so much easier on the eye.
Definitely understand the call-centre analogy re. the same question being asked over and over and over.... been there, done that so I guess I understand the dread of a sudden influx that the ACEs must be feeling. In which case I'm definitely I over-reacted.
And I love smileys - what can I say?
How about a guide entry on the lifecycle of a babelfish?

>>How about a guide entry on the lifecycle of a babelfish?<<
Only as part of a literary analysis of the Hitchhikers material. That is, if it is intended to pass through PR into the EG. (I love abbr.s) Otherwise it would be in violation of some rule or other...
...unless of course you are writing from a programmer's perspective about Altavista's translator programm that shamelessly uses DNA's verbal invention
PS: Brunel is the skin of my choice. It lets you personalize the color setup of your personal space, and has all the important bits right on top... I don't need to read my intro everyday, I just want to see what convos have been posted too recently. I liked the looks of goo, but it just seems so slow.
Y.

I'm in classic goo and have always been ( would have been ashamed to commit adultery with alabaster or brunel _ me and classi goo have a relationship based on confidence)
but I may try the others sice you said they can be more useful or quick
I used to think the only difference was mainly the color

I started on goo because I thought that it looked the best, but I somehow ended up in Brunel and found it to be the easiest to use, especially as a newbie. Now it has really grown on me.

Can only operate in the two skins that support frames mode, non-frames mode simply is too much hard work, and I miss things, I am getting on a bit afterall.

Only Goo and Alabastair can do it - it is under preferences - you get to see other converstion thread headings as well as current conversation all on screen at once. Couldn't h2g2 without it.
Can cause problems and takes longer to load though
