It's not a question, but I bet there'll be loads of people who join, post often for less than a month or two, then leave the building.
I'm not a newbie, but I'm not an old fogie either (U number 202814, and I've been here properly since September 2002). Any ideas what researchers like me should call ourselves?

Middle-aged? I'm one too.

Middle-aged is good. Any other suggestions, since we're on the topic?

I'm too lazy to read ALL the backlog (and as an h2g2 OAP I will excercise my right to be a grumpy thing and not care about things like that, in my day everyone read everything, you know and we were all polite.....)
Sorry topic drift in a single post, but has anyone started a "Spot the New Researcher with a Character Name" contest?
No sneeky peeking at newuser page now!

Is actually amazed that he doesn't see ANY obvious newbie usernames...
Not even any unchanged "researcher xxxxxxxx"s.

That's odd...why are there two newbies well above the "new this week" cluster at the bottom of Who's Online?

I think with the latest version of DNA, your name, as a Newbie is actually your sign in name, rather than Researcher UXXXXXXX

Back to the original question - "What is DNA? I thought it was something to do with geneitic"

Sorry, I made the convo drift off topic!
DNA - "Yeah, doesn't it mean Dioxyribonucleaic acid?" (I'm showing off now! )
How about "What's the Infinite Improbability Drive?" and "Why do I need to know where my towel is?"

I think after the film most of the newbies are going to be HHGTTG fans.

Read through some of the posts you've made on this thread, and I think you may find the reason why.
I'm a newbie, and I'm not here because of the film but because the site came up in an internet search on a topic which I was researching for an essay, and I was thoroughly intrigued.
I'm not stupid, although that didn't stop me asking the question about the "eyes" next to my name before I twigged onto what they were for 30 seconds later, so maybe I just do in VL as I do in RL and open my mouth before I think about what I'm saying sometimes.
And maybe I have done again here, but I'm not going to apologise because the general tone of "anyone who's not been here for X years is obviously not worthy" in some of the posts has made my blood boil.
me if you like, or give me a damn good reason I shouldn't be mad with the presumptious attitudes shown in this conversation, other than the fact that I have had the temerity to read comments posted in an open forum.
