"how come right the film only just come out but you all say youve been here for years wer not that gulable you know"
"whats h2g2 stand for"
Perhaps we should start an "Old Fogeys Only" thread, and actually have some meaningful discussions.

That's a very good idea!

I considered doing something like that page a few months ago, but I don't know enough about the site to do it. After all, I don't know what an LDer is.

How long would one have to have been registered for to qualify as a fogey? I've been here less than a year but I'd hate to be left floundering in a sea of in-duh-vidualism.

I came here during a similar influx... The launch of Starship Titanic. 9.9.1999
I definitely qualify for old fogey status (but I prefer to be called a right geezer.)

it's not a question that newcomers would ask,
but, has the movie been released yet or is it going to be released soon? And is it just in Great Britain?
also wonder how long do you need do have been here for to be a fogey

Its out on 28th April in the UK, but I don't know about anywhere else.
I've decided that I'm cantankerous and contrary enough to be condsidered a fogey.

The weird thing is... I missed Rupert...
Being pre Rupert definitely bestows geezer status.
Actually, I think anyone who was here before Petunia (bbc's reshift of staff during which we lost many italics and went from 5 entries per day to two) could claim fogey status.

Some time ago Vegiman started a project called Area 42 which was going to be a history of hootoo - I don't know what happened to it.
I'm pretty sure there's a history page somewhere ... but haven't got time at the moment - if I find something I'll get back to you

I'm worried about the fact that all these people coming in will be able to read all them personal things you've revealed on here.

As a 30's Something "Hitch Hikers" fan since 1982 I am NOT here due to the release of the "movie".
I agree that a FAQ for new researchers is a great idea, Unless of course one already exists. In which case I am sure it will be replaced "with something even more bizarrely inexplicable"
