Why, when the head writer/executive producer/whatever Moffat is says to the BBC "listen, I want an older Doctor than the last three - someone in their late thirties, early forties" do they provide him with a shortlist where his immediate reaction is "there are too many young people" where the only person who can play the character is a 26 year old?
My first reaction was that they needed someone for the ladies to drool over, much like Mr. Tennant - then I saw 11 and it appears that he's been smacked around with a sturdy branch from the ugliest tree in the woods.
I'll be interested to see what he brings to the character - but I have an awful feeling that he might just be Tennant mark 2.

Yeah, well, Tennant could never be followed. A lesser facsimile would be series-death. The Beeb surely know that.
If they can't keep it fresh through the actor they pick, then they have to work with the character. So it isn't Who's Next. It'll be What's Next.
He'll need to have a distinctly different character to either Tennant or Ecclestone. I guess enough time has passed to reprise one of the first generation, only none of them would actually work, except maybe Tom Baker, who's also too recognisable.
So the new Doctor will need a brand new persona. What will it be? He's not likely to be gay, is he? Or really, really thick. Or evil. Verm suggests he could be afflicted by some kind of wasting disease that can only be kept in check by periodically cannibalising his assistants. Interesting idea, but probably not consistent with brand values.
Any predictions, then, about the new traits of DrW11?

Perhaps they could make him a bit Sheldon Cooper-like. If you don´t know who that is, you´re really missing out on something.

interestingly enough he has already worked with Sally Lockhart aka Rose Tyler in Ruby In The Smoke, check it out they worked well together

Interesting my tweenage daughter thought he could be gay. A bit more dark and anti-hero than Tennant might be good.

I´ll be happy if he just doesn´t say "I´m so sorry" all the time.

Yeah... I think an anti hero doc would be good. Plus I always like it when the Doc is a bit arrogant.
hat I hope is that the new guy "plays against type" based on what our expectations are gonna be.
I must say last night I thought WTF.... but I am warming to the idea of this guy as the doc now.
