Sculptures deemed "degenerate" by the Nazis have been unearthed by construction workers in Berlin.

smiley - ok Toybox, that's fascinating and wonderful for them to now see the light of day again and be displayed. Quite incredible what the Nazis deemed degenerate. But good on that German business man for hiding them..as well as Jewish people and helping them escape.

I saw a link to this from that page,

http://www.cbc.ca/arts/books/story/2010/11/07/dickens-manuscripts.html?ref=rss&loomia_si=t0:a16:g2:r5:c0.0171391:b39077126

I hope to goodness the money is found to save the manuscripts for the nation..and its nice that Canadian media report on it.

No offence; it was a bit of tortuous reasoning smiley - silly
The rose is the symbol of the Parti Socialiste, so on the other side of political spectrum than the General.

Torturer in chief dismisses concerns of British public.
http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-11715577

"It doesn't matter how people perceive me in England. It just doesn't matter any more. And frankly, at times, it didn't matter then,"

We guessed as much George, but it still felt awful good to be on the streets telling you and Blair your wars were never in my name.

Meteorologist from "StormChasers" commits suicide.
http://www.popeater.com/2010/11/04/storm-chasers-matt-hughes-dead

I like this show and watch it when it's on via Discovery usually in the autumn/winter

Last year Matt guided the Tornado Intercept Vehicle (TIV) into a direct contact with a tornado, in what must have been a highlight of his professional career.

Earlier this year he killed himself - his death only now being made public.

Though only a distant viewer from overseas, I shall miss him.

-----------------------

And finally...

Suffering from an acute a crisis of lack of interest The Capuchin order of monks in Switzerland, has placed an ad for new recruits specifying applicants should include "professional young men e.g. bankers."

http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-europe-11715134

The story is: The catholic church seeks to recruit bankers. Distrusted, and despised by many, for their shameful and illegal behaviour behind closed doors - the Catholic Church's new outreach project to bankers fleeing their own public wrath find common ground in tax haven.

Talk about making a pact with the devil!

Maybe he really meant he doesn't care how the English think of him, as opposed to the Scottish and Northern Irelanders, whose opinion he highly values.
