BRITAIN today threw its weight behind middle class children who deserve everything handed to them on a plate because they're all so very special.

Well swl chooses to shout the term 'Britain' from that thing. Seems a bit weird as it's an internal English affair.
I don't usually post links from this rag..but I thought oh why not. They do things differently in his country.

I always find it hilarious whenever anyone posts a story from the Daily Fail, to look at the "news" "stories" in the right-hand column.

f you think the newspapers are depressing, just contemplate what is replacing them as they go under, one by one. America Online features as "news" such items as what Hollywood celebrities are dating which other Hollywood celebrities. Fewer people read newspapers, and more get their news from web sites. I don't see this as an improvement.

As I understand it (and as it was explained to me), Scottish Universities charge ALL students tuition fees, but take it up with the local authority where they live in Scotland or, if they're from abroad, the foreign country's education department. Technically this allows them to say students do not pay tuition fees *directly & upfront*. But English funding authorities will not deal with the Scottish Universities. Not through any malice, but because of the nature of the rules and systems they operate.
So the headlines should read "England refuses to pay for students to study in Scotland".
Further, it's nothing to do with nationality. English people who are registered on the electoral register and have lived for a period in Scotland have their tuition fees paid, but Scots who have moved to England don't.
I may have picked up the details wrong, but the broad thrust is English bigots have twisted this beyond belief for their own agenda, to be parroted here it seems.
(and if anyone fails to see the difference between the satirical Daily Mash and real news, they need help)

Couldn't agree more, it seems to be a sensationalist headline to make Scotland look bad at the Westministers governments refusal to deal with Holyrood

Well Of course anyone can see the difference. But if someone chooses a particular thing to post followed by heh heh, I'd say it would be disingenuous to pretend a certain point isn't being made. And you will know full well my opinion of the Daily Hate, which term I normally use. I merely used that link as a bit of irony, given your normally expressed views.
And I didn't say 'nationality', I said 'country'. Things are done differently in Scotland. How long do English people have to live in Scotland before going to university costs the same as for Scottish students or those from the EU?
>to be parroted here it seems.<
Oh I thought you were a fan of bigotry..
My point still stands.it's not a all over British thing, because there is a different system in Scotland..and is it entirely financed by people paying tax in Scotland?
This kind of thing is ridiculous IMO..and the sooner the Scots go their own way the better..if they want such radically different policies from other parts of the UK. Policies in England that are causing huge anger here amongst our young people. But you choose to post a link, IMO to ridicule them..which is what that Daily Mash thing is intending with 'humour'.
You regularly dish out 'bigotry' IMO..so don't whine if someone gives you a bit of your own medicine.
