the former king of afganistan must have a grandaughter knocking about some where???

marry him off to her and ship them out as the new king and queen of afganistan

not only do we get rid of him, we also scupper the americans plans for a democracy in afganistan and the royal family has very close ties to ussmiley - ok

afganistan would then be split 3 ways

karzi, king and taliban, the resulting civil war could drag on for decades, keeping alqeeda to busy at home to trouble us too much!!!

Don't give Taff too much credit smiley - winkeye

He's just employing the method, okay a bit of an unlikely Taff method in detail, but it's intriguing.. smiley - laugh Non-the-less, the tried and tested British method that kept us an Empire for a few hundred years, namely 'Divide and Rule'.

Eg. A British civil servant drew lines on a map to create modern Iraq after the Ottomans were sent packing, comprising Sunnis, Shi-ites and Kurds. They all basically hated each other. *Oil was needed*. And the middle east was carved up between Britain, France and Russia. Things worked okaish, even after independance, until a certain Saddam got too big for his Sunni boots, and then we got the yanks to help us out.. smiley - biggrinsmiley - winkeye

Yep, divide and rule can work a treat.

What would the headless squirrel think of that?

smiley - doh I forgot that squirrels can't think without their heads. smiley - blush I'm not sure they can think even *with* heads, but they seem to outsmart us humans rather a lot.

The “Little Prince against the Taliban”
The book of Saint-Exupery, The little prince, is given among children and women in Afganistan by Spanish soldiers.
A Spanish collectionist of that book in different languages, knew the story of the Afgan translator G.Sakhi Ghained. In 1977, he did a translation into Dari, a dialect of Farsi, but the edition never could be sold. Later, that collectionist and a group of friends founded the translation and 5000 books were released. Fuencisla, the collectionist, wrote to the Spanish Minister of Defence, Carmen, another woman, btw, and she agreed with the idea of the soldiers giving the books among children and women. But, the story has gone further and there´s now a project to build a hispano-afgan school in Kabul.

Fuencisla read during the presentation of the project this fragment from the book Taliban, by Ahmed Rashid:

“Children, spent the day studying the Koran(...) interpreted by almost illiterate teachers. (...)Those students in the Wahabi schools were the disabled, the jobless, the humble(...)Admired the war because it was the only posibility of adaptation.

The simple belief of a mesianic and puritan Islam instilled by force by some rural mulas was the only support they have to give meaning to their lives”
